Totally agree - I'm not a gamer but I've had this TV for about a week now and can confirm that there is no motion blur when my son is playing Star Wars Battlefront on a Xbox One. Actually, there's no motion blur when he plays it when hooked up to a ~10 year old cheapo 32" Hannspree TV either. The HDMI cable must be about 5 years old and so nothing special there either.
My other experiences with this TV so far:
- SD channels look quite awful - everything looks quite muddy and washed out - no amount of tweaking picture settings have helped so far
- HD channels look a lot better but still not 100% happy with the colour - nowhere near as crisp as I would like
- Xbox and PC playback (at 1080p) are much much better: more than perfectly acceptable to my untrained eye
- just tried playing this 4K video (https://vimeo.com/93003441) directly from a USB memory stick and it looks great
- Smart features seem to work quite well except I can only connect it to the internet by a wired connection: wireless doesn't seem to work for me. Don't think I've succeeded playing 4K videos from youtube - there's no way I can see of telling which resolution is being streamed - but it looks like 1080p at best and could be a consequence of my sub-standard internet speed dictating which resolution is being streamed

My conclusion: if it wasn't for the fact that the picture looks good with external content (ie, Xbox, chromecast, USB, PC) then I would have returned this already. As things stand, I'll probably keep it....

Ps: I don't have Sky, Now TV, etc and so I won't be able to confirm how they perform on this TV. I also don't understand HDMI versions and so can't confirm which ones it has...

Does anyone know if you can Play 4K videos form USB and what format is supported?

I have a panasonic 4k Camcorder and would love to test this out.
reddit
16 Jul 16 #106
Quite often, when playing content, if you press the OK button the remote, the frequency will be displayed on the top of the screen along with the resolution of the content being played.

You could try and download some video samples to a USB stick and play them through there to see the different rates that the TV can support (24, 50, 60 etc)

This should help to answer your 59hz query.

First thing is to check your settings on the devices themselves. On the laptop it will vary depending on whether it has Nvidia/AMD or Intel onboard graphics. On the PS4 I think by default it autodetects the video mode to use, though I'd always suggest setting your preferred options directly as there is always the danger the "auto" option may not set the best options for your display.

On the actual TV there is usually a "information" "info" "display" or similar button that brings up the details of the signal being input such as resolution and refresh rate.

Oddly when I use my PC on my TV, I always seem to get 59HZ instead of 60, though it's such a small difference I doubt it has any noticeable impact....

16 Jul 16 #103
So I have taken delivery of the TV. Please can someone tell me how to determine if the 1080p/4k content is being played @ 50hz or lower?

Can someone who has received the TV please confirm or deny this? ^
ST3123
13 Jul 16 1 #101
It's a TV not a gaming monitor. 50HZ is the PAL standard frequency and has been pretty much as long as we have had television, it doesn't mean the motion handling of the TV is poor. As with pretty much any TV since the 90s it will handle 60HZ if it needs to (e.g. NTSC material).

IMO people blow the whole motion handling thing way out of proportion. Most TVs are at least adequate (if not ideal) for gaming. Most of the blur where it occurs comes from silly picture enhancement technologies in TVs. Once you turn off all the image enhancement technology and switch the TV to "game mode" most TVs are fine....

after setting up and using the tv for a bit I can say that it is actually very nice, the quality seems good and the smart features are quick to access. The sound is average, if it was for me I would probably use a sound bar or something but for general use for my dad it seems fine.

I am cancelling because I don't believe that any of the ports are HDMi 2.0 because 1080p and 4K are only supported up to 30hz, which means 1.4.

Just got off a live chat with an Argos rep.

If the TV is the same as this Bush, which it looks like it is, then 3 of the HDMI ports are 1.4 and 1 is 2.0

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4489782.htm#bv_qa

However, downloading the manual for the Bush seems to show that up to 4096x2160p @60hz is possible from all 4 ports.

One thing I would like to know is how many of the HDMI ports are 2.0 because with having seen that many vendors are happily to call products 4k but only have HDMI 1.4 ports, I would not be happy to purchase such a TV if none of them were 2.0.

OK so anyone know if any of these budget 4K sets are any good for gaming? fast gaming too, like Overwatch on XB1, my boys birthday in 2 week and has asked for a new TV for the XB1 in his room, I was going to get a Samsung 32" but it seems for not much more i can get a large 4K, but its no good if the gaming isn't any good.

His old TV is only 720p but its got some serious retention issues, its becoming unplayable.
