This is the same model that Tesco were recently selling for less but now out of stock, with no indication of when/if it will come back into stock but still a good price for what you get and is of course available.

Japan sold Sharp 8k tv from last summer: not sure about terrestrial but 8k certainly exists now

We may well be getting 8K screens soon and I have no doubt that there will be enough people that will buy into it and pay out the money for them.
But we don't even have HD as a fully mainstream delivery method, let alone 4K, so it will be a very long time before we see enough content for 8K.
Add to that the additional bandwidth required and the question of whether our infrastructure can support the data needs.
wait for the new models, they will do the 8k upscaling

It's a surprisingly good screen - I have a lg and side by side it's very close. Given its a vestel clone I'm hoping some shared firmware (apps?) would work

the most recent GPU's are already able to take care of an 8k screen already
Japanese used to broadcast 4k very long time ago already, expect 16k soon
