Do you need displayport cable to get the full res?

No, dual link DVI is enough for 60HZ

I feel even QHD at 24inches is a little small, but still pritty good...
It's a good deal for those who are far sighted

I think it's fine. We have QHD phones standard these days (fair enough it is hard to make out from FHD phones) but at 24 inches and close up to the monitor this should be a fine improvement over 1080p

2560x1440 at 24 inches is 122.38 PPI which is actually a pretty good sweet spot for operating systems like Windows that have terrible display scaling support.

Just started buying these as the standard monitors at work. Very nice, well worth the price.

Are they coming factory calibrated and proper for photo editing?

Bought two of these back in December via Flubit for ~£169 each. Absolutely fantastic screen for the money in every respect, even more so now at this price. Heated.

3440x1440 is the 'new' standard size, way to small now.

how is a relatively obscure "Ultrawide" the new standard? I know no-one who has that size of monitor.
1080p is the current standard. 1440p and 4k are the more common alternatives.

If you are editing photo's why on earth buy a 24" monitor, ridiculous.

Which is what % of people? I have a pg348q so I know 3440x1440 is far from standard.

Agree. My desktop is a 39" 2160p screen which has similar PPI and Windows is fine with no scaling.
