I've been on the hunt for a heavy duty printer, just for black and white.
does this fit the bill?

According to the Dell website:
Monthly Duty Cycle (max) 10000 pages
Recommended Monthly Volume 300 - 1000 pages
ukting
19 Jul 16#25
so it's suggesting that I shouldn't print more than 1000 pages a month?
topss
19 Jul 16#26
How many pages do you intend to print?
Obviously you would need to weigh up cost per page when printing at several thousand a month.
Great deal and I can get in next day with prime

not many at all, probably 100 at the most.
but i want a good build printer as I have ambitions of making a mini office.

So you're well under Dells recommended usage (1000 prints). Plus they quote that figure to try up-selling you to a more expensive one. It's rated for upto 10,000 pages a month, which I doubt many home/small office users will exceed. The 10,000 duty cycle is there to protect Dell over warranty claims and to differentiate it from other printers they sell.

Seems really good but be warned I've had nothing but trouble from my dell b2375dfw whenever I use airprint from my macbook or iphone it goes bananas.

should I buy this even if I'm a light user??
I would probably print a few pages every month or two. I don't want the toners to go to waste

What I've learnt over the years is to just buy the cheapest pile of crap, if you need anything serious printing, then pay for a professional. Spent £400 on a printer as I thought it would last... it lasted 6 months, so I bought one for £250 last year, it lasted about 10 months. **** before that I only ever spent £50 on one and would get through one a year..... they're all ****! The ink sucks, they over charge you for everything...
Printers are so cheap (& consumables so expensive) that the life of the printer isn't important.

This is not a bad purchase. I looked at these and the E525w to replace my old Dell 1320c that was becoming troublesome... I settled on the E525w as I decided I did like colour prints and so did the rest of my family.
Now that I have a working replacement I might take the old 1320c to bits to clean the mirror... (when I get one of those round tuits).
I eventually went for a deal from Morgan Computers for the E525w which came with three sets of replacement toners for 359.40, plus there was a set in the printer box (a full set of toners seem to cost ~120 quid).
The printer is brand new with 0 page count and works a treat (AirPrint, Windows, OSX and CUPS all seem to work for me).
Hope that helps someone

Cheap tonners seriously? I never had luck with then, many can't even do the advertised page count and quality is terrible. Refiling a genuine one a couple of times may be a more sensible option.

20 Jul 16#48
Tonners don't dry unlike inkjet where the print head gets clogged. One page or 1000 pages, doesnt matter.

20 Jul 16#49
I never had that issue. Unless you're the kind that uses cheap consumables.
Well granted inkjet are notoriously unreliable with all their gears and rubbish but lasers don't pose such an issue

When are Apple gonna make a printer?
Apple's first printer cost $7000!!
they decided eventually that Macs and phones were more profitable.
now we have £66 lasers...
