Just got one of these. Nice prints, much better than I expected, especially colour photos, I only printed a couple out of curiosity and was very pleased with results. I leave it on all the time, apart from when it is actually printing or has just printed something it is completely silent and uses very little power in deep sleep mode. Wakes up fast when needing to print, tested it and it took maybe 20 seconds for first print from deep sleep. Got a full set of cartridges from Amazon for under £20, actually sold by Amazon I mean, so if there's a problem with them (when I finally come to use them), then at least there's that avenue of recourse to take. Paid £105 for mine and am blown away with it, so at £85 with code is excellent value if you're in the market

I muddled the 1250c with a C1660 printer which has a lcd display on it. However, after a quick web search it is possible to change a setting in the 1250C ToolBox (software) to state it is using non Dell toner see: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/SLN151909/EN Checking after changing the Non-Dell Toner setting. Disable the Non-Dell Toner in the Tool Box. - On the [Printer Maintenance] tab of Tool Box, deselect the [Non-Dell Timer] check box. I think there could be an error here as they have typed timer instead of toner.
So you may need to download a driver for the 1250c to get the Toolbox if you do not already have it installed. Otherwise it could be on a CD or available to download as a separate program if not part of the driver.

Good to see this deal back again. I've have the multifunction version for over 2 years and it's been great. I posted a way to extend the life if the supplied cartridges on a previous thread, but I think it's worth repeating here:
Press the Menu button, scroll to 'System' then 'Admin Menu' then 'Maintenance' then 'Non-Dell Toner'. Select this and set it to 'ON'. This lets you continue printing until the cartridge is really empty. I did this two years ago and believe it or not, I've just realised that the original cartridges are still going strong.
The downside is it disables the toner level indicator so you don't get any warning that you are about to run out of toner, until it actually runs out. Not usually an issue if you have replacement carts on standby.
My replacement carts have been on standby for nearly two years! They will be out of date before I get to them. :smirk:

Yes, pretty easy to set up, I did most of it on the web interface... just plug into usb or ethernet and then you can do it on the web interface when you run the CD or run the installer that you download.. there's lots of options, but I think that's the best. Yes, it works with windows 10 very well, and I also have the dell printer app on my android device and can confirm that both work very well indeed, have not had any problems at all

Set it to a static IP address and then you won't have that problem.

Hi Paddy, was this easy to set up on wireless. a lot of the reviews suggest not. Can you leave simple instructions?
Does the printer then just show up as available ? Will be printing from windows10 laptop and android phone.

I bought this printer at this price following a previous HUKD promo. Recommended - print quality is very good, quiet printer, I personally have issues with it not connecting to the wifi network every time. This may because if differing IP addresses each time? Haven't looked into it that much. I bought compatible ink cartridges on Amazon, no issues.

Decided to order - been thinking about a colour laser printer for a while, and the cheap compatible cartridges + the fact it isnt too massive has swayed me into thinking this is the one to go for. NB - theres also a dell C2660dn available for a similar price if you want to have automatic duplex (but at the cost of being much bigger, and no wifi + needing to buy more expensive (but higher capacity) cartridges)
As a home user this seemed the one to go for - but if you've got a higher print volume than me you might want to consider the C2660 instead

Go to settings menu and change one of them to state non-Dell toner. I can't recall where in the menu it is but that allows the printer to still use up any toner left in cartridges. You should still get quite a few more prints before having to replace the toner cartridge.

Make sure you have updated the firmware on the printer.

13 Jul 16#20
Is this is anything like the Dell 1250c in terms of toners, then it will claim the toner is empty and refuse to print even when it isn't.
The 1250c makes great prints, but the fake reporting of empty toner is unforgivable.

looks better printer but cant seem to get cheap toners like you can with dell even the compatible one,s expensive
The only thing stopping me buying this printer, or the scanner version, is the fact the paper is exposed all the time rather then in a closed tray like most other laser printers. I print very sporadically so have a cheap B&W Ricoh and am worried the exposed paper will get too dusty and effect the print when it pulls it through and around the printer.

If you print sporadically, can you not just take the top sheet of paper off when you go and turn on the printer?

I have the same question.
For these dell laser printers there are some very mixed reviews - apparently they are poor for small text, and another hotukdeals member has mentioned that the prints aren't exactly the sharpest they've seen.
I'm looking for a decent colour laser - with scanner preferably - with cheap toners - and low maintenance (not having to replace drums and so on).
i would really appreciate some advice/suggestions.
Also - can I say - there were many laser printer deals on a few weeks/months ago - cahback and soforth - any idea when such offers may appear again?

I've got the version with the scanner built in, but essentially the same printer. I use this daily and have done for a few years now and has been bullet proof. I use the cartridges in the above post, had an issue with 1 cartridge and this was exchange straight away with no problems.
Incredibly good value toners from Amazon, if you're looking for low cost printing this could be the answer! Very tempted.

It's Dell. Good luck as long as it doesn't go wrong. I have wasted hours talking to their international call centre's to people asking questions that they seemingly don't want to hear response to. Will mever buy from Dell again simply to avoid apalling customer service.
