Would be interesting to see a teardown of this unit, it's an odd design choice the USB port section appears to be given half the amount of space given to the 6 socket. I wonder there is a a reason for this or just a odd design choice.
You can also get a 10-way tower for around £11-12 usually.

Yeah hate that - if you are using devices with the power supply built into the plug (i.e. external hard drives) then these are going to be a big let down as it would become a 4 socket (at most) extension cable.
That is the reason I prefer the tower surge-protectors that don't have that problem ...
