It is far better to pay an extra £20 or so and get a refurbished 5S instead from O2 or reputable eBay sellers like PlayGadgets.
The 5S is a much faster phone.

Agreed, who knows how long these phones have been used before and for what purpose. Refurbs from o2 are pretty much brand new, A grade might even come sealed whilst B grade comes with something stupid like 0.5mm invisible scratch near charging port. Picked 5s b grade for £96 couple of months ago. Still had 9 months of Apple warranty left. They gone up to £120 but whilst you can get it when it it's in stock it is well worth extra £21.

Providing O2 refresh goes through smoothly (some forum members have had issues with credit file markers not being removed and being rejected for a mortgage as a result, O2 not unlocking the device and charging at least a month's rental etc)

iPhone 5S on O2 refresh seems to be coming up as £130 rather than £120...?

Pick almost perfect and 0 upfront and £16 a month, follow the steps above once you order.

15 Jul 16#13
Sure but for every issue there are many with no issues at all, follow the rules even o2 tell you and it should go through correctly and you get a new phone unlike these where you don't know the history. Order, collect, put in unlock request, pay off device, cancel direct debit have to do this or they take the money, final bill request a refund for unused first month. Keep webchat copies and check credit file once all us complete.

Will this run Pokémon Go? 2GB RAM needed on Android, I see...
Got a "refurbished" 5s from O2 as my last phone. Cosmetically was perfect but the battery was knackered. Seemed like a great price at the time but didn't last me as long as I'd hoped :-(

I ordered a 'perfect' 5S from 02 last night for my son to play Pokemon go. It arrived in immaculate condition with the apple film still on it & with a lightning cable. The battery doesn't seem to last as long as my SE but I have to admit I forgot to get him to select the battery saver mode in the game. I'm really pleased so far, I've seen people ask for £150 for 5Ss on Facebook selling sites & God knows how old they are & how long they'd last!

Does anyone know if the iPhones from o2 refresh come locked to them?

15 Jul 16#38
The 5s are available in "perfect" or "almost perfect" on O2 payg at good prices which seems a better option than Refresh.
I'd rather steer clear of the mucking about and credit checks on my file for the sake of a few squid.

Do you not know how credit works, you might have to look it up, everyone who gets credit should check their credit file as instances like that happen not just for o2 but many companies. As I said check your credit file and keep records of the web-chats and if something goes wrong you will be covered. If you want to use any credit make sure you check your file.
And yes if you don't want credit, want a used phone which will have poor battery life and stop getting updates then this is the deal for you. If you don't mind getting credit and want a better phone them go for the o2 one the choice is yours.
I look forward to your reply in the morning, 20 odd comments in a couple of years and many of them on this thread, either you are good at trolling or you have some connection to this company.

So for you buying a phone involves keeping a record of all web chats and checking on your credit score every 5 minutes. Oh what fun you make buying a phone. I must come to your next dinner party where we all take out our credit scores and test each other.

Am I correct in thinking that if I get the O2 5S as a near-perfect phone I would need to get it as a monthly contract, request a free unlock code then cancel the contract? It's also available on PAYG for a few pounds more but I'm not sure what their unlocking policy is for PAYG.
eslick
16 Jul 16#59
The pay as you go ones normally cost a few quid to unlock, we got on on the refresh a few weeks ago and there was a big difference in price, £96 against £168 I think but if there isn't then easier all round to go for PAYG at least that way you keep Chrispaps12 happy which is what all this site is about
