considering the processor is this price on amazon as it is, a 120GB SSD thrown in seems quite good. SSD has Read/write of 560MBs/410MBs
Bought from Novatech before, they're a UK based Company, and seem to have ok customer service

Paired with 8gb ram and Geforce 970 I get 60fps/high on all modern games at 1080p.

i played gta v quiet comfortably with this cpu and a gtx 970 before i upgraded my cpu, it did bottleneck the gpu but that was expected. I wouldnt say the witcher 3 is a good game to benchmark on lol even with a 4690k OC'd at 4.4ghz and a 970 that games a bit up and down with frame rates for me if you dont find the sweet spot on settings. id still say the 6300 is a good cpu think i picked mine up for about £70 a couple of years ago on ebay after using vouchers and lasted me well, im about to sell one of my friends my old rig with fx6300, r9 270x, 12gb ram, evo tx3 cooler and carbide case for about £200.

GTA V certainly doesn't like it as much! It still whoops the **** off it on the XBone anyway so I'm happy

Doom is a Vulkan game. Try The Witcher 3 or GTA V and see how far you get.

A great processor and very overclockable, but also getting old (released 2012). As much as it pains me to say it, from my experience a newer gen i3 would be a better investment and would be less of a bottleneck on a high-end graphics card (e.g 980ti/1070/1080). I really do miss using this processor!
On Novatech however, their customer service seems to have dropped in the past few years, for me anyway.

Well now, outside in DOOM, on Ultra at 1920x1080, I get 120-180 frames/ second which dips down to about 60 indoors with lots going on. I use this CPU at 4.5GHz, a Palit GTX 1060 and have 16GB of Ballistix Sport in a 2nd hand Biostar A880GZ :sunglasses:

Thank you. At least some people have common sense around here.

Bearing in mind there are games the 970 can't run 60fps at 1080p/high with an i7-6700k this seems extraordinarily unlikely.

I wouldn't recommend purchasing one now, unless you already have an AM3 board. As above, better going down the Intel route. AM3 is a dated and dead socket now

An absolute boss of a cpu. I had one and I overclocked it to hell and back (about 5ghz is where hell lies for this cpu

And it will still be outperformed in most things by an i3 6100 and you end up paying more by the time you buy an overclocking motherboard, decent cooler and higher quality PSU needed for a good oc. This is a nice cheap CPU but it's 4 years old and wasn't great when new.

Good reply. Fair point. I'd buy if i was in the market with the case i have now. 1080p 60fps with high / ultra settings is all I want right now and for the price a good little combo to get started in pc building.

i think your better off with a i3 6100 or a second hand haswell,
i guess if you have a fm3 board already then its not bad... but intel is the winner...

No you don't and I know that you don't because I ran a 970 with 16GB and an FX-6600 for around 8 months last year.

why get stuck with stock you cant sell, when they are forced to reduce it for a negliable profit , when something newer comes out.

Not getting rid of stock, this is most likely a distributor or even AMD promotion they have gotten access to. They don't have hundreds of these they need to clear and they will want to have some stock left right before the new cpus come out

They are hardly going to be in the same price range and even if they were it's way too early for a clear out.
