Just looking on Amazon and there is one review giving 2/5 ☆ saying it is poor quality.
However I've not seen a 4k screen for such a low cost, heat given.
I have that monitor. got it for £200 on black Friday. this is a very good deal and it's an awesome monitor

6 Jul 16#7
I have the Acer K242HQ 23.6" 4K. It's amazing. IPS makes a huge difference over tn for Games, pictures, movies and web browsing. With Windows 10 is really easy to scale font sizes and makes everything look crystal clear. This also gives you the option to run 4k, 2k and 1080p games depending on the pc spec and 4k games look amazing. (but I can't comment on the quality of this exact model) If your looking at pure gaming you should probably save for a gync/freesync monitor. But for occasional gaming, photography and webbrowsing it's amazing.

Hi, is this any good for gaming? Either via gaming pc (4k) or PS4 (full hd)
m1kedutt5
6 Jul 16#10
should be fine for both I use a 23.6" 1080 so even if you had the 4k monitor running 1080p it should look the same I think due to 1 1080p pixel being the same size as 4 4k pixels ?

I have a 4K monitor and I still mostly game at 1080p. 1080p does actually look slightly worse (blurrier) on my 4K monitor than it did on the same size 1080p monitor it replaced. It wasn't a huge deal for me but it was noticeable.

wow hot. my graphics card 750ti won't play 4k and cannot get netflix 4k without getting an amazon fire box so wouldn't do much for me. but hot nonetheless! at this price seems like 2 of this would be awesome for gaming. dread to think how much you need to spend on graphics card and psu though!

6 Jul 16#19
You would not want two, then your view right in front would be bezel. Three needed for surround gaming. And if you wanted to max out games on three of these, two nVidia 1080s and an 850W PSU would be fine.
Can you not get netflix 4k on your PC? The 750ti has displayport I think so you should be able to run this screen, and a few older games on your card.
Just Wondering
6 Jul 16#18
60hz should be fine for 4k gaming , unless your going for dual GTX 1080 card set up , as it will be a push to get to 4k gaming at 60FPS on your average pc users pc set up.
I would of grabbed one of these , but I am so use to my 27 inch 1080 IPS screen , going back to 23.8 would make quite a difference....
Fingers crossed for a similar 27 inch deal IPS 4k !!

Why do you still game at 1080p? I find most of the time games look better at 4k with other settings reduced.

6 Jul 161#21
With windows 8.1 and 10 scaling is generally fine - I use a 15" 4k laptop connected up to a 40" 4k monitor and only issues with a few programs, most are fine.
4k is 'nice' on smaller monitors, but for me really comes into it's own on bigger ones just for fitting more onto the screen.

I have a GTX 960 so for most modern games I can only run 4K at the very lowest settings which can look rubbish.
I can run Rocket League at 4K with reduced settings and it looks great but Dirt Rally at 4K on low settings looks awful so I prefer to play 1080p at high settings.

In my opinion 4k is over hyped, its hard to run games on with over 60 fps, streaming anything in 4k will use a lot of bandwidth and there isn't a whole lot of stuff to watch that is filmed in 4k.

you need binoculars to see the text and they are also restricted to a bad screen monitor quality in terms of picture quality. Get a quality large vestel for a little more, they are very good to use as monitor with a great crystal clear quality picture .

Hi. I'm sure it does have a display port. But I didn't think Netflix allowed 4k streaming on PC? Anyone know differently? I recently upgraded my Netflix to 4k package as my dad bought a 4k TV... hmmmmm

I just googled Netflix 4k displayport. No comments it can work. This is from official Netflix site. No mention of PCs. Apart from authorised TVs:
The following devices support Ultra HD streaming when paired with an Ultra HD TV via HDMI Port 1:
•Air 7410X (Waoo! in Denmark)
•Amazon Fire TV (New Version)
•British Telecom - BT DTRT-4000
•Dish Hopper 3
•Nvidia Shield
•Orange Livebox Play 4
•Roku 4

•TiVo Bolt
•Fetch Mighty

I would disagree 4k looks amazing and it is like a future investment. (4k for tv's is overhyped agreed) Games like csgo dota2 and tf2 run +160fps on a my gtx 770. Bl2 I only get 20fps but the difference in detail is remarkable and when I upgrade my gpu I won't need to buy a new monitor. If your a competitive or hardcore gamer I would suggest saving for gsync/ freesync or waiting for 120hz support. I also agree with neroneuk that better colours>more pixels, however pc monitor with IPS has pretty good colours especially compared to any tn panel. + It even improves webbrowsing and word processing experiences.

Great price but I own a 32-inch 4K monitor and it's still not big enough to get the best out of the resolution and Windows scaling looks awful. If any one can recommend a low lag, cheap 40-inch 4K UHD TV, I'll be all over it.

6 Jul 16#34
What version of windows are you using?
40" is pushing the limits for 4k to my mind - my ideal would be a 50" 5k monitor.
Does depend how close you sit, but having been spoilt by 4k in 15" and 28", even a decent 1080p 24" starts to look a bit blocky.

The only app I use regularly that I have trouble with is Remote Desktop.
It actually includes a zoom factor in Windows 10, but never seems to work as it should.
Ended up changing the display settings on the server I connect to the most.
It's ok on the 28" monitors and fine on the 40", but pretty silly on the laptop's 15" (and if the laptop's being used alone, I'm probably trying to fix a problem quickly at the side of the road or something!)

They have reposted this as one of the deal of the day offers due to it being popular. Can anyone else comment on which stand they received?

4k is a pain, I wouldn't advise it, a lot of software doesn't use the Windows scaling feature, therefore a lot of programs are too small even on my 40" 4k TV...

Just some quick initial thoughts compared to my Dell U2311H which is the same size but max resolution of 1920x1080. The Acer frame is slightly bigger and the stand not as sturdy but still descent. Uniformity of colours looking good at the moment and angle viewing good.
Not had this long and I do not have a graphics card yet to run at 4K, I have it at a custom resolution of 2560x1440 and the icons look tiny in windows, fonts and explorer look blurry next to my Dell which is pin sharp and I cannot get the colours to match between my Dell and Acer yet but need more time to calibrate and figure that out.
Another personal preference I do not like is they have put the model number on the front frame (top right) then bottom left a big “UHD4K2K IPS In-Pane Switching” writing plus the usual Acer logo in the middle which is fine. I think this ruins the high gloss black frame as there is no need to state all the features on the frame itself.
This is still a good deal compared to how much other places are charging and my dell cost over £220 when I bought that. Hoping once a get a graphics card that everything becomes pin sharp like my dell.
I must admit though, if fonts (typeface) and applications only look good at the full 4K, it will be a struggle to use at this screen size. have upped scaling to 150% in windows and this does look better but still not as sharp as my current monitor. Was thinking this would work well at 2K also.

7 Jul 16#51
wish they had 3440x1440 at this price point
4k on a 23.6inch monitor is incredibly small. 32inch would be much better
still good deal, if doing video editing or photo editing
adam_101
7 Jul 16#52
Mine arrived today. I have Windows 7 and have connected it up without any scaling and it is beautiful. Agreed, text and icons are small, but totally readable sitting at my desk. Currently running three large spreadsheets side by side and I can see (and read) everything with white space to spare. Looks like I have a bit of bleed in the bottom left corner, has anyone seen similar on theirs?
Unfortunately, I can't justify the cost of an appropriate graphics card to play games, but running a couple of 4k YouTube videos is impressive. It is a square base you get and when I looked on Acer this fitted the model range, bizarrely you can see the right model on Scan if you zoom in.

In that case, would a similarly priced 1440p monitor be a better choice? That's what I opted for as I believe this is too cheap to be that good of a monitor, and since most would downscale to 1440p anyway it makes sense to get a good, native 1440p monitor
TheC
7 Jul 16#55
I would say if you can find a native 2560x1440p monitor with all the features you want around a similar choice at this size, then yes. I could not and was one of the reasons I went for this in the end as I casually work with photography and liked the fact this is rated at 100% RGB and one of Acers ProConsumer monitors.
I have managed to reach a much better quality, of colour and type through numerous tweaks in my settings. I am only running through Intels HD 4000 card which caused me problems. Currents settings are through the displayport at 2560 x 1440, 55p with no scaling and like the extra real estate on screen. Looks much better now with a 125% scale if I want that too. Having to downscale has been a pain an my case (hardware limitations) and upon further reading some 4k monitors do this better than others but may cost you a lot more.

Bought the monitor at £167.09 and setup last night. Thought size may be a little but decent size and picture on 4k looks stunning for the price. I'm using it with a R9 390x card via display port as cable was included with monitor. Tried watching 4k youtube and some games on max settings on stream and I'm pretty impressed. Would recommend.
New to to 4k resolution, my card has HDMI and displayport, anybody got any recommendation which connector type is best to get the most out of the monitor for gaming and watching youtube?
adyDeals
8 Jul 162#59
Probably displayport - this can output 4k at 60Hz, whilst only HDMI 2.0 can do this and it's surprisingly rare - more common HDMI 1.4 can only output 4k at a jerky 30Hz

8 Jul 16#60
Hi got mine today, the 4k is making everything tiny, is there anyway to use 2k on the screen? I can set the resoloution in windows however it just puts a black box around the screen and doesnt actually fill it. The OSD seems pretty pants and has very limited settings
tahir_owen
8 Jul 16#61
you need to find a box saying 'maintain display scaling' in you're video card properties
neroneuk
8 Jul 16#62
what is the purpose of trying to get a non native resolution when it looks rubbish after upscaling to fill up the screen. If you got window 10 go on display settings and move the slider up to 300%, at least you can maintain the 4k res. and can read text easily. What a wasting of money anyway, a 4k tv makes the whole lot a lot easier and better if you do not mind a slightly slower screen. Well, there is not any assurance that this screen is any faster than a 4k tv

great deal so I took the plunge but have a little tech issue now I have it so wondering if anyone on here could offer suggestions :-)
Got Lenovo TS140 (another HUKD purchase) which has HD4600 on board which can push 3840x2160 @ 60Hz and it looks fantastic. Issue is, if I play a video in any media player or browser loads a page with animation or video in it screen goes blank as if it is being over-driven. If I drop refresh to 30Hz no issue.
Anyone else experience this or know how to solve?
I have tried two different DP1.2 certified cables and same result.
