I've tried Waze and it's not for me as it's quite cluttered.
I prefer Google Maps, but each to their own.

And has up to date and accurate maps. I bought a Tom Tom Trucker 6000 and the mapping is woeful is every respect, which is a shame because my eight year old Tom Tom that it replaced was pretty good.

They took away the speed cameras app from AppStore. :disappointed:
One of the reasons keep jailbreaking to get it back, it's the perfect companion app to in-car GPS including average speed check calculations.

I used TomTom for years and never had a truly seamless experience. Either the SatNav would reboot 5 minutes after setting off every time or it would reboot in the middle of a call when I was using it as a hands-free. The final straw was the fact that live services would stop working if there was any significant traffic event, i.e. when I really needed it, and the stupid thing would then forget what it had known a out the traffic and would take right back into the melee.
I decided never to give TomTom another penny and, after trying various apps, settled on Waze. It's not perfect, you need a data connection to find a route, but it's 1000% better than TomTom. I would strongly recommend anyone at the end of their contract with TomTom to give Waze a try.

I accept Waze is useful for local information, I often run it to check how things are before leaving the house, quick to update, but overall not a patch on TomTom Go on Android, I certainly wouldn't go back to a dedicated satnav now.

Good spot, might bite for re-enabling Live Traffic on my Tomtom 1005. By coincidence recently had an email from Tomtom saying the SIM will deactivate July due to non-usage. Was about to let it drop.
Wish Tomtom would realise if they charged lower prices all the time they'd actually make more money.

How does the tom tom traffic to Garmins live traffic?
Yes, because the Police haven't got the foggiest idea where speeding is happening, nor where accidents happen either. I mean, how could they?

Ditto!
As far as I know, Waze is owned by google and some data on traffic (accidents/roadworks) on Gmaps is pulled in from waze. Sometimes I feel google maps could give a bit more info or is a little wrong, so I try waze, but instantly remember the 73 pages of mobile social local (the world's first truly MoSoLo logistics service to change the world) services I have to navigate through and the clunky interface I just can't get on with. not sure if it's really due an update or just keeping that because it's popular and i'm missing a trick??

I find Waze info (traffic speed, hazards and accident spots) is more up to date than on Google, which sometimes not always seems to lag behind quite a bit, which is why I often check local traffic on Waze before setting out, the Google info is sometimes anything up to about half an hour out of date even though I use TomTom Go on Android for routing, which only shows the more significant delays, and it doesn't overemphasise bottlenecks.
DennisG
6 Jul 16#48
Cheers for that. I normally only use waze as a second line option and might have already left so can't really operate or concentrate on the clunky interface.
Will try it as a passenger and get used to it because willing to put up with user unfriendly if it delivers better info
