My Merc and wife's BMW both use the rubbish plastic jacking point, these stands are useless for me. Don't know what the German were thinking when they designing the vehicles.

I have a bmw too, used to have these stupid plastic jacking points.... Many, many speed bumps ago. Now it's like a 'normal' car. Maybe just pull them off?

Thats what they are jacking points not places to put axle stands! You can buy shaped axle stands for certain vehicles to use on the jacking point not sure if yours are. Axle stands as the name implies primarily designed to go under the axle or some other suitable strong point.

axle stands are a must, i used to use just a jack but then decided to use these as well as a jack!
nothing happened but best to be safe than sorry!

When changing tyres I always put the spare under the car, flat, near the jack...that way the car will not fall far if the jack fails...and you can still jack the car up again after if it does!

Heat. The amount of people I see solely using a jack is worrying. I have seen a jack fail very rarely but I personally wouldn't fancy anything dropping on me that heavy.

I've had a trolley jack fail on me - luckily I would never go under the car supported by one.

Misleading ... 1.5 tonne per stand. Does that mean it can or not hold a 2 tonne truck?

Not if you're planning on balancing the entire truck off the floor on top of one axle stand, no.

Just don't buy the Halfords trolley jack, it doesn't lift your car high enough to use these stands

Put some wooden blocks on the jacking point of the jack ;-)

I've just picked up a set of these £12 ones as you can't have enough axle stands but do like a good set of ratchet ones :sunglasses:
