How Audible works:
Audible is different compared to other subscription services such as Netflix and Spotify in that you can not listen to the whole library for free.
Instead you get 1 token per month to spend on a book (most audiobooks otherwise cost around £20).
And unlike Netflix you still have access to any books you have purchased after you cancel you membership.
I listen around 1 hour/day, 5 days/week, so a 20 hour long book will last me the whole month.
Also a similar deal for O2 Priority Users, seems to be working again:

If you enjpu reading.....well without actually reading (and didn't just get this for free with £10) its a pretty good deal, considering it gives three audio book tokens for £1.99. So I can add heat to this since the other deal no longer exists.

go to your account details, redeem a gift, and then under the redeem a gift box it says "need to enter a promotional code?" go there.

Worked for me and I only finished a 3 month trial for £1.99 last week. I'm pleased with this. I like the service, but refuse to pay the silly prices they ask for when not on offer.

I'm on a frozen thing at the moment, not paying anything for 3 months, anyone have any idea how I get to a page to input this code? (Seems it is done here)- didn't work for me btw.
Final Edit, it did work, I just had to cancel my membership completely instead of the one that is frozen. Literally went straight to the link and it allowed me to sign up for the £1.99 version.

I've got the audible trail, I can only listen to the book I used my token on. Surely they don't charge a subscription fee for access to a audio book shop. Am I missing the free audiobook library?

Audiobooks usually cost upward of £20 for good long ones, the membership means you can get one of them for whichever price a month you pay

By the way, it's worth signing up for the Daily Deals email as you can get some great audio books for under £3. e.g they had Silence of the lambs for £2.99 earlier this week and I've also picked the Alex Ferguson autobiography, Joe Hill's NOS4R2 and American psycho in the last month or so.
This let me re-activate my old account. Thanks so much. Great deal.

I got the 3 month free trial from Amazon (with £10 voucher) last week, but I am struggling to see the point of the subscription. You get 1 book free a month and then pay to buy other audiobooks (at a reduced rate?). Going to pick up LOTR triology then cancel I think. The £10 incentive was a cracking deal, even if I'm still confused on how Audible normally works

Brilliant! Even better - I went to cancel my current membership and was offered £10 credit to stay. I accepted, immediately spent the credit on 2 books, then cancelled the membership and signed up for this deal. So today I've spent a total £1.99 on three audiobooks:)

The subscription gives you 1 or 2 (depending on level) at the reduced rate of £7.99 or £14.99 compared to the £20 for some audible books. However audible usually have some offer running so you can get the one book subscription at a lower rate. If you cancel they usually offer you some kind of deal - if you say it's too expensive then you usually get offered 1 book for £3.99 per month for 3 months. If you like audio books, audible is a good deal, even at full price. However as they are always running some offer, it's best not to pay full price.
Outside your subscription, books don't tend to be discounted unless audible has some kind of sale going on. I only buy books that are on sale, if I don't get it through my sub. I always make sure to get eh most expensive book via sub as well.

Music requires three to four minutes commitment per choice and often people with large collections skip to the favourite parts of the track, jump the bridge or simply move on to the next choice. It's fluid and mood driven.
A book is a linear choice requiring anywhere from ten to thirty hours commitment. The audio samples are purely to trial the narrator so your enjoyment would be somewhat diluted trying to keep the tone, plot devices and narrative of multiple books going. Hence the a la carte approach rather than buffet pricing
The deal itself is a great one, I've gone for it and am listening to the Alien sequel 'Out of the Shadows' which has the soothing voice of Rutger Hauer among the cast..

As far as I'm concerned the daily deals are THE reason the be an Audible member. The credit a month is nice but the amount I 'save' buy buying as many daily deals as I do is great. Also worth noting that if you suspend your account (For up to 3 months I think) you can still access the deals.

I cancelled my account around February and I've been getting the daily deals without any problem.

Great offer. This is the second time I've used a £1.99/3 month code. The last time I went in chat and they saved my remaining credits whilst I cancelled and reapplied. Once that was done they added my existing credits to my account again.
Can't fault Audible in any way. I've been with them for around 2 years now and not regretted a minute.
