The internal lid minimises spilling into the other pots because it sits so close to the top

Dabba is extremely practical - that's why they've been in use in Indian cuisine since time began.
The whole point is you don't have to use individual containers. You lift the (should be airtight) inner lid off and you have access to all your main spices at once.
You don't have time to be faffing around opening plastic containers when frying spices this is usually only done briefly (30s to a couple minutes) you would either have to open all your containers in advance ready, or your spices will burn.
Pointless!
Please don't blame the dabba if you have spasmodic limbs! They often come with a little spoon in each compartment. Simply choose NOT to flick the contents of each spice holder into the other spice holders, and you have mastered a new culinary skill.
My personal choice would be :
black mustard seeds
cardamon
black cardamon
curry leaf
methi
fenugreek seeds
cumin

Some Morrisons have them too..........got one for a fiver a while ago. Use it for the spices I don't use in great amounts as its a faff to keep refilling for the most frequently used ones
These are really handy, I use one all the time now, since someone kindly gave me it. Its great having everything to hand, plus spices remain much fresher, as they can be stored in bigger bags elsewhere and topped up every couple of months.

These are supremely useful, not just for Indian cooking (if you're not into that). Just stick your most-used spices, be it pepper, salt, paprika, oregano, basil - whatever - in, and no more faffing about with jar and bags of spices.

But if you ever drop it all the spices will spill into each other and you'll have to chuck the lot out. Looks nice, but not as practical as separate jars.

Im not sure. I have bought from Mulaco
before but as Im in London. Plenty of shops selling spices.. from butchers to supermarkets. I buy the large packs.
Most items like Lentils comes from a store Pick and Save in Kenton.
I see Mulaco are in Yorkshire and they have a large store Mullaco House, Wellington Mills,
7 Wellington Street, Batley
West Yorkshire

So many people don't get this because they didn't grow up with it in their house. I love mine. If you cook regularly it's great because you open one thing instead of 7. Nice to know its available online and not just in a shop in Leicester.
It can be used for any commonly used spices or condiments

Nostalgia purchase for some it seems, from the look of it, it's not really fit for purpose in most kitchens. e.g. no labels, no dating, not airtight.

25 Jul 161#38
I have used this before but the tin is not air right and the spices do not last long in it. Plus its very easy for one spice to spill into another pot especially if taking off a high shelf. Looks great but not very functional after you buy it. Plastic containers are much better for keeping the spices fresher and not leaking into each other.

Masala dabba. We've had one for years now but as we cook so much using spice, we have to keep topping it up all the time lol. They have these in pretty much every indian kitchen.

Ours has chilli powder, paprika, cumin, coriander, garam masalla, fenugreek and turmeric in.. the ones we use most when making curries from scratch.
It's very handy to have this instead of all the individual spice jars coming out of the cupboard.

True. I only keep the branded masala in the tin, I keep my homemade Cheeky Cheeky Super Fire & Smoke blend in a glass jar along with my black cardies. I keep my Moruga Scorpion & Carolina Reaper chilli powders in the fire resistant safe though

Mine has
- Red chilli powder
- Whole cumin
- Mustard seeds
- Turmeric powder
- Coriander powder
- Dried mango powder (anchor)
- Asafoetida (heeng) stored in a little glass jar as its quite pungent
I would advise against putting Garam masala as it will lose its aroma if you are not a frequent user.
