Oh, but there was no sarcasm. It's factual.
We've had the CUH-1200s, then we've had "wait for E3". E3 has been and gone and we're advised to wait until the backend of 2018 for Scorpio.
We could of course just nip it in the bud and never buy an Xbox One, ever.

Hmm interesting development. The blurb seems to imply it has a newer bluray drive as it mentions watching uhd films on bluray, which I don't think you can get on the regular sized bluray discs?
If so then £250 is a pretty good price indeed for a complete 4K movie player and console combined....

Someone feel free to correct me here, but I thought MS stated the 2TB unit was gonna be $299? Or did they actually state "from", meaning that was the entry point (500GB)? The reason for asking is that £349 price tag on Amazon. If the Yanks are being charged $299 for the 2TB version and we're expected to put up with yet more very dodgy conversion rates, then MS can GTF.
I suspect I've picked MS up wrong during the conference, though.

I thought the Scorpio was a big disappointment. How can you announce something that's not being released until holiday 2017?? shouldn't it been announced firstly at e3 next year and not this one. 6 teraflops? it's impressive if it was been announced this year, also make sense. But the time holiday 2017 comes around, this could already be dated. irrelevant and pointless. I do understand it takes time to make and produce. I am just disappointed. I just hope this is a wake up call to the Nintendo NX to at least match the potential power, 4K gaming and to release by say Easter of next year at the latest. Nintendo could finally be put back on the map. I am not a fan boy and I own all three brands. Just the Scorpio is to far in the future and by that stage I would have preferred a new next generation console apposed to a xbox one . 5. Excuse my moaning, just disappointed with E3 so far. On a happy note I am very happy and excited for Titanfall 2 mostly and Battlefield 1. Even though they are released a week or so apart. Easily warrant playing both as they are so different.

Has it actually been confirmed by Microsoft that this will be able to play UHD Blurays? I've seen it mentioned a lot in articles as a headline upgrade but then in the body of the text it usually says "presumed to be...". If it does play them then this is an utter bargain. It'd pretty much be the cheapest UHD player going!
EDIT - just read that Microsoft has confirmed this. Great news! Not that I need a console... Will probably hold out for the next Nintendo to be honest.

They have done it simply because of the Neo. If they waited until next year the Neo would be out and they would be left behind. Now this is announced people may not buy the Neo and wait for the Scorpio. And the power is impressive this year, next year and even later years for a console. There's no chance it will be left behind by next year if it offers 4K gaming.

They really should have taken the opportunity to make the minimum HDD size 1TB.
Having 500GB drives in newer models of the consoles is like Apple still offering 16GB phones.
The difference in price is about a tenner for M$ to use a 1TB drive vs a 500GB drive... if that!
camaj
14 Jun 16#173
Just to sum up. This is a great deal for a UHD Blu-ray player right now however if you're willing to wait you'll likely be able to buy a PS4 that also supports UHD Blu-ray. When and how much, we don't know but it might be worth waiting until we know more before parting with your money. Also, we're getting a second Xbox One "Holiday" 2017 that'll be Microsofts answer to the new PS4, so we'll have three consoles that will playback UHD Blu-ray.
Nintendo's next console, codenamed NX, is coming out in March 2017. We know literally nothing about it but there's a slim chance that it'll have an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive. By the time Sony announce their plans I expect we'll know more about the NX.
That's the price for the players, not the drives. The drives themselves are pretty cheap. Presumably the Xbox One S is going to be more powerful than these standalone players but of course aren't going to have things like analogue out that you'll get from a dedicated player. I was sceptical too because of their wording but on their site they say "Ultra HD blu-ray", so that's a confirmation as far as I see.

Yes to the new playstation. Because it will likely offer better frame rates.

If Nintendo pulls a Wii U 2.0 then the Wii U's my last Nintendo console and I'll stick to what they have released so far and older games (NES, SNES, N64, NGC, Wii). It doesn't help that amiibos contain physical DLC than being sold on the eShop (I don't care about the toys). :-/

Since Xbox Scorpio will have 6 teraflops (980 TI) and much more then Sony will need to top that if they want to have the most 'powerful' console ever too. Microsoft and Sony probably thought about this because of Nintendo's new console and they didn't want to let their customers feel behind with technology.

??? didn't state anything about 4k blu ray players. I mentioned that they couldn't confirm the Scorpio would.manage to run 4k gaming at 60 fps......

2tb min. I've got a handful of games. I've doe loaded a few gold free games and it's full. 500gb is a joke. but you can buy large external hard drives much bigger to last. just another brick to add with your xbox though.

Few silly posts from people who clearly prefer one corporation over another. There is room for both consoles and no one knows at the moment what kind of frame rates it can handle. It's about the complete architecture of the console and so what is the point in claiming it won't be capable? There is a video online with lots of well known developers saying that it does. So I will trust their judgement and not that of a disgruntled fanboy. If we choose to get this console and the Scorpio next year, why does it bother you so much? I am a gamer and so I always get all the options. Great news so far from E3 for everybody.

Still can be left behind in terms of having the more powerful console. they have a idea what the Scorpio will be like and they can beat it technically and release before then. but as of yet, there isn't enough info or actual gameplay running proof from any manufacture as yet. apart from PC obviously

But I can't see anything else being released that will top it. Sony certainly won't release another console before then. And the NX won't be that powerful.

Don't you have a backlog of games till then on other consoles? It's worth the wait because in the end you get a much better console than Xbox One Slim.

It's a tease that Microsoft revealed the Xbox One Slim and then also showed later on Xbox Scorpio which is definitely superior. Xbox Scorpio is the better deal of the two but for those that want to currently play on Xbox One then the Slim model's ideal.
Btw, Xbox Scorpio will likely be about £400-500 so that's another thing to consider. It won't be cheap as this.
Indeed so that makes the "s" model a great buy? Not everyone can or wants to fork out upto £500 on a console. I do and will come next year and be already bought the "s" model as I need something to make most of my 4K Samsung tele!

For someone that wants to game on an Xbox One the Slim model is certainly the way to go. It's pretty cool that Microsoft is making their games also available on PC.

According to a few of websites. It does indeed play 4K blu-ray.
I currently have the 500gb xbox one with external 2tb drive with alot of games on already, if I upgrade to this slim model is there an easy way to re-sync all my games on my external hard drive please? Don't fancy downloading from scratch..
Thanks

External hard drive and Accessories from Xbox One will work with Xbox One S and Xbox Scorpio.
You wont have to re-download your games

I recently moved from an older black model to the white LE Xbox One, so here's what happened with my 2TB drive. I updated the white model and turned it off. Plugged in the 2TB drive and when the Xbox One booted, no games or apps showed up. However, after 5 minutes, they suddenly appeared and worked like they did before!
So, long story short, moving an external drive to the new S model should work fine.
I don't particularly want an S or Scorpio - I responded to your original comment "Scorpio" because it didn't really communicate anything and in worst case might have confused someone less informed into thinking this deal was for a Scorpio.

There is no need to patronise people by saying that my comment was confusing.
It is impossible to stay neutral and confirmation bias or cognitive dissonance will always play a part but ultimately *you* decide when it comes to dropping 200+ bones on a gadget of any kind or choose to wait it out ;--))

Nice! The console and especially the controller looks really amazing and even better than before. I admit I kinda hated Microsoft for what they initially did to Xbox this generation but now I'm starting to feel like things are getting back to normal with the new Slim console.
Still, there's the fact that multiplatform games on PS4 are better optimised than on XO. Then again, with the Xbox Scorpio the games with the limitations will supposedly be able to play at the maximum settings (I'd imagine) so that's not a problem.

We've had the CUH-1200s, then we've had "wait for E3". E3 has been and gone and we're advised to wait until the backend of 2018 for Scorpio.
We could of course just nip it in the bud and never buy an Xbox One, ever.

If so then £250 is a pretty good price indeed for a complete 4K movie player and console combined....
The place holder on the MS store website DOES say it'll play 4k UHD discs, so appears to confirm it will be the cheapest 4k BR player in the UK...
I think MS have just pulled a ps3 move...
I've got 2 XB1's, but I'm soooo tempted to order the 2tb model!
Built in PSU.
No dedicated Kinect connection, so that may be the end of that tech (will be a usb connector for it though)
HDR
4K player and streaming capability.
HDMI v2.0
Otherwise its the same spec, so no different for most gaming.
I'd say this suits them perfectly, wouldn't you?
P. S you missed out 40% smaller.
But your sarky comment did not suggest that as you just wanted me to say "HOT!!! - Buzz u iz the man now dawg". I am sorry I strayed from the script, please forgive me and I will leave now and let you bask in the heat of your deal. Cheers.

Not exactly a waste really is it?
The press conference said Holiday 2017, which is 15-18 months away
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuTwtOo88r8
Take a look how much a standalone player is with those specs alone.
I suspect I've picked MS up wrong during the conference, though.
Just messing
This console isn't out yet, your after the Xbox One, which 1 is better is subjective, which 1 has games on he likes.
Edit: some sites seem to suggest that all versions of the new console will come with the new controller.
Nope. Waiting for £200 at the very least.
The ERA of consoles should be released max every 1 year like iPhones
People should be upgrading their consoles every year or at least 2 years
If you want something in life you have to just pay the price NOWW
So that means but every version of the console every year fullstop.
While I'm looking forward to the new console, less excited about preordering from Zavvi who countless times before are quick to post offers at attractive prices well in advance, then decide to cancel them when they don't want to fulfil the order any more. There will be plenty more reliable sellers in the next few months up to launch

Not sure how Scorpio will handly 60fps 4k gaming though at 6 teraflops when the Nvidia 1080 an just about run 30fps at 4K with 9 teraflops.

What HI-FI
"4K Blu-ray players are in short supply at the moment, with only Panasonic and Samsung currently boasting future-proof decks, but we can now add the first games console to the list.
With the amount of 4K HDR content, both online and via Ultra-HD Blu-rays, currently on the rise, it's good see another source hit the market.

(Ignore the PlayStation bit at the end that never happened.)
I am interested in buying one of these, my question is how quickly does the memory get used up?
I am thinking of buying the 1tb or 2tb version.
TIA
most i have are on download and free with gold i have used a 1tb nearly had to delete some stuff
i have ordered the 2tb
EDIT - just read that Microsoft has confirmed this. Great news! Not that I need a console... Will probably hold out for the next Nintendo to be honest.
I have a 1080p tv. I have zero intention of replacing it with a 4ktv within the next 2 years.
I currently have a PS4.
If i were to get XBox One S or PS4.5, would there be any benefit to me?
as i don't have a 4k tv, and have zero interest in VR.
I doubt it will. Even the new 1080 card struggles with that, and it's certainly not as powerful.
Having 500GB drives in newer models of the consoles is like Apple still offering 16GB phones.
The difference in price is about a tenner for M$ to use a 1TB drive vs a 500GB drive... if that!
Play the greatest games lineup, including Xbox 360 classics, on a 40% smaller console. Just don’t let its size fool you: with an internal power supply and 500GB of internal storage, the Xbox One S is the most advanced Xbox ever.
Btw, Xbox Scorpio will likely be about £400-500 so that's another thing to consider. It won't be cheap as this.
