If this does not work, try switching region at Xbox.com and searching for the product.
Instructions below:
1) Go to the Russian MS store (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msru/ru_RU/list/categoryID.68295800). You may need to switch locales (bottom left) if you page is redirected to UK.
2) If you are using Chrome, choose the option to translate the page when offered (in the top bar) - this will make it easier to see what you're doing.
3) Unless you already have some Ruble balance in your account, you will need to purchase enough balance to cover the purchase - so that's 1000R in this case. Add these to your basket and click "Checkout". Any leftovers can be put towards your next purchase (it stays on your account).
4) You will be asked to sign-in. Sign in with your normal Microsoft account.
5) Once signed-in, fill in the details for the invoice. I used a Russian university address:
7-9 University emb.
St.Petersburg
199034
6) Add your card details as requested. You can store all of these details for next time.
7) Click the Terms checkbox and then click "Complete the purchase".
8) Once the checkout is completed, you will be presented with the redemption codes for the gift cards. Make a note of these, or keep this browser tab open.
9) Now go to xbox.com and ensure your region is set to Russia, then sign in. Once logged in, click your Avatar (top-right) then select "Use code" (second item from last).
10) Redeem ("Activate") each of the credit codes you just bought by entering the 25-digit codes. You can check your Rubles balance in the Account section (Avatar->top item, "Microsoft Account").
11) Now go to the product page on Xbox.com, then click the "Buy Now for Xbox One" button.
12) A dialogue will pop-up confirming the price and that you will use your Russian credit balance to pay, click the green button to confirm and purchase.

As I had issues to register my credit card over there in the past you can alternatively buy and redeem an Xbox gift card XXXX RU and use your balance for the payment. Also at the moment there is an offer in RU for the Ori and the Blind Forest:Definite Edition for 420R

It's only a pain the 1st time. Once you've done it the details are stored, so subsequent purchases are quick & easy.

I have both consoles and love them equally  Just find all these hoops way to much effort for the sake of a fiver. No insult was meant to your chosen console.

That's good then cause i used the card to buy Metal Gear from Russia when it was on offer but tried to use it for Forza Horizon 2 yesterday and it wouldn't work so might try buying the credit instead.
Ended up buy Horizon from UK in the end as it was only a couple of quid more so I'll give it a go next time.

is this working again now as when I tried to purchase the dead island rehash couple weeks back from brazilian store it wasn't working and upon investigation looked as though many thought ms had blocked it.

It's often because you have to actually have to pay for stuff like this with a card that can do international payments, or not get charged for currency exchange. Revolut works great for this. It does have the minimum £10 top up, but generally once you got this method down pat you'll probably use it again and again anyway you'll save a small fortune.

Does Revolut work for buying the credit?

yes it does - or at least it did 2 weeks back when I bought Metal Gear Solid: Phantom Pain from Russia Marketplace using Xbox live credit in rubles

Yes, lots on here use it. Swings and roundabouts though; min top-up is a tenner so there's not really much advantage to buying credit on Revolut compared with just buying via MS (where the min is 500R or just over a fiver) - unless I'm missing a huge point.
