That's not 40% smaller. Somebody's assumed 40% reduction in each dimension - that would give 78% reduction in volume. There's no way Microsoft would describe that as 40% smaller. Expect each dimension to be about 85% of the current model.

Given Microsoft have announced the new smaller version, as well as the Project Scorpio console, and made price cuts in the US I expect there will be some price cutting on the current model before too long.
Will they be reduced before Xmas, probably, but as to how much and when, it will depends what stock is in the channel as to how much of a cut, if any, they announce there.

Agree to waiting for the Xbox One S and all it's new features for around the same price as this deal, but the rest is just Fanboy rubbish and who in their right mind would currently buy a PS4, VR and camera setup which will cost around £600 when Sony are going to release a more powerful console which is rumoured to greatly improve VR over the current PS4, (Sony was likely going to be announce the new model at E3 until they found out a Scorpion could also be there waiting to strike at any moment).

I'd second that, never a good idea to buy electronic equipment and keep it for a long time especially if you're not going to be using it, technology moves too fast and the price drops reflect this, look at phone technology for example, games consoles are no different

Scorpio and play anywhere sealed the deal for me. And the s is a very nice looking console but not worth the upgrade for me as I already have a 2tb hard drive connected and don't have a 4k TV so will keep my old console until Scorpio drops
