The next massive sci-fi role-playing game from Monolith Soft, the creators of Baten Kaitos and Xenoblade Chronicles, comes exclusively to Wii U. A terrible intergalactic war leaves just a handful of Earth survivors trying to live in a beautiful yet hostile environment.
Suitable for the Nintendo Wii U.
Players engage in battles against powerful creatures of all forms and sizes using the deep battle system that builds on the triumphs of Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii.
Riding and controlling a weaponized mech, players can explore every inch of the massive open world displayed in gorgeous high-definition graphics. The world is filled with strange and imaginative creatures, from small bugs to giant dinosaurs.
As characters improve in different classes, they will learn new combat and defensive skills, or Arts. Players can customize the Arts palette as their characters learn new Arts. All Arts have a ?recast" time – once cast, the player must wait out a ?cooldown" period before that Art can be used again.
For ages 12 years and over.

Best current gen game. Better than anything on the PS4 or xbone

Be wary of this deal. Says they only had 25 available, meaning a significant proportion of us are going to receive an automatic refund and an apology email from Argos in the coming days. Hot deal but only for 25 people

My friend wanted a copy and just checked the listing again - Argos must have got the monkeys and typewriters! "Xeonoblade Cronicles X".
Maybe the story, graphics and general production values don't match up to Witcher et al, but from a gameplay/combat/controls point of view (by far the most important aspect to me anyway), and sheer scale and different ways to play the game, I think it's fair to say that Xenoblade is outstanding.
The graphics aren't much but the draw distances are insane, and world is absolutely massive! So much to explore and ways to strengthen your build, based on classes etc.

Xenoblade X has laughably terrible writing, terrible story, terrible music, terrible graphics in this day and age, terrible VA, terrible characters. And this is coming from a person who played it for 60+ hours I had to force myself to.
So no this doesn't hold a candle to many other games this generation especially Witcher 3.
The only decent thing this had going is the battle system that's it.

It's all subjective, no point getting into fanboy wars. For me? Yes. The exploration and sense of adventure is way greater in X, though not as great as the original Xenoblade Chronicles.

It's entirely seperate, though i recommend Xenoblade Chronicles over Xenoblade X. Xenoblade Chronicles is the better game by far

Voted hot, but I can't invest 55 hours in a game with my rugrat n 5 year old, I can't finish 4 races in an MK8 trophy tournament.

Made a map guide for finding things if anyone needs it:
I think it's separate. None of the characters carry over, or so I've been told, it's set on a brand new planet.
To be honest the story itself is average at best (although I can't think of any games where the actual story is anything other than cliched and average) but it doesn't take itself seriously - some of the dialogue is ridiculous, in a good way IMO, and pretty funny.

Do I need to play the first Xenoblade Chronicles to know much about this game or can I go into this (mostly) blind?

Never played a JRPG before I played this. This is one of the best games I've ever played! Right up there along with Fallout New Vegas (another favourite of mine) in terms of sheer quantity and quality!
You need to be able to commit though, I took around 55 hours to beat the main quest.

Awesome game.
I'm not into jrpgs, but gave this a go and I'm now up to the final story mission and I'm still learning stuff about it and better ways to fight!
Read the manual, look for hints online because the game doesn't explain some stuff very well , if at all! I've only recently found out how important and powerful augments can be - once you have them at a higher level. I don't have the patience to create all different kinds of builds for different enemies - I think I'll do this when I've beaten the campaign and have the insanely high level creatures to beat!
It's got the grind that a lot of these games have. Especially to build up affinity with other squad members in order to be able to do their missions. Some of the gathering quests would be impossible if it wasn't for the internet and finding out where certain items are!
So far I'm at 120 hours, probably more and I'm only slightly getting a bit bored, but my need to level up more is outweighing any boredom creeping in. That said I'll be taking a break and playing Uncharted 4, whenever the eBay seller I bought from decides to grace me with the copy I bought!
