Also worth going on the Amazon warehouse thread and asking member 008 to find you something , there have been some outstanding deals on there (the above for £17 the other night)

I know this is a hard question to answer but I fancy getting these or the Mordaunt Shorts , but am unsure whether it would be an upgrade or not ..........
Philips Speaker Specs
SPEAKERS System 2 way, Bass reflex
Impedance 6 Ω
Woofer 1 x 5.25" Aluminium con woofer
Tweeter (MCM7) 2" Ferro Fluid Cone Dome tweeter Tweeter (MCM8)
So would it be an upgrade or not...............considering that JL says themselves that Bass Reflex is better than infinite baffle (the Mordaunts)

Compare to the ones i swapped out, which came as part of a £200 5.1 set, much crisper and a respectable kick. I already have an active sub so its brought it up to a decent standard. They're for my bedroom so didnt need anything too loud. Was playing the witcher expansion and it was really really nice walking through the town with all the ambient noise, v happy with my purchase.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
No, just took his word, he was the manager and seemed like a decent guy. He said they were easier to drive with my amp that the diamonds. Cant imagine a massive difference between both sets at £100 for 4

I want to use it with desktop PC.
Any suggestion for a cheap and good amplifier?

Did you demo them? I think you have to give notice nowadays.
The 2010i's are better but more expensive

Its odd these are still around , but a classic like the Mission 780se isn't . I want to get another cheap good set-up for when I move into a house next year . cant decide if my 780se which are in mothballs atm under the stairs still cut it , or if the q2010i or these are as good / better ???

Find your budget and stick to it. That way you can find the best for your money. All what you suggested is possible. I recommend a BK sub but they're £200+

Newbie looking for some ‘input’ on how these speakers ‘stack up’ against each other.
I looking to put together a 5.1 system for Movies and music mostly.
I appreciate I’d need a sub and (presumably a) centre speaker too, but would 2 pairs of either speaker work in combination with the sub (and centre speaker) with the Onkyo amplifier?
I'm just about to start a thread asking about what's the best 50 inch tv for under £450; ideally i'd like to spend £500 for the tv plus soundbar, but i feel i'm being a little optimistic their. What do you think?

Brilliant, thanks for letting me know. Is their any budget sound system you'd recommend? cheers

Almost certainly not - you need to have an amplifier, or pick 'active' speakers. Both options will cost you more, of course.

Can these standalone be used with a tv instead of a sound bar or "surround sound"? Cheers

Not a very powerful AV. It should be fine as long as you don't turn up too loud. Any clue the speakers are struggling, distorting or clipping turn down and upgrade it
Would the amp drive 2 or 4 of these? Bit of a noob when it comes to this.

You should usually match the fronts/centre in most cases. Rears aren't as important. It should be fine with just 2

I have 5.1 now, what i meant was replacing just 2 speakers and keeping the current rear ones, would it sound weird, uneven?

Depends if you want surround sound

I have an entry level yamaha 5.1 system and one of the speakers has started hissing, I understand I may have melted the drivers? If I buy these to replace it, should i get 4 or is two sufficient for the front 2, given the rear speakers are typically only used for ambient noise (I mainly play games)
This deal has been posted several times on here and always gets lots of heat. The last time was about 5 months ago and then a month before that. So if you have any questions I would assume that most of your answers are on the earlier posts

I would be getting the TV for £409 with Quidco I'm led to believe, so perhaps up to £500 total including the surround sound.
