Just spotted these beauties whilst browsing Forbidden Planet. One of the finest graphic novels ever and SIGNED no less by Dave Gibbons.
In an alternate world where the mere presence of American superheroes changed history, the US won the Vietnam War, Nixon is still president, and the cold war is in full effect.

Well, here is a vote for the utterly bizarre but magnificent original ending which made perfect sense.
If you recall some of the ideas floating around during the time period when Moore wrote the script - there were concepts like a tangible off-world threat helping unify mankind under a common flag... so there you go, not so hard to see where he came up with the idea. Plus, visually speaking, when I first turned the page and saw the artwork - I thought WTF !! - whereas a few nukes going off, pft - big deal. As good as the movie was, and it was really good, the book is leagues ahead - you just cannot adequately move these ideas to film without drastic compromises. V for Vendetta - grrrr, now, that was an utter disgrace, but at least Watchmen was handled well.

Awesome. Film is on Netflix now...and I don't care what anybody says, the film is better (ending makes more sense).

I too prefer the movie ending. That said, I doubt the comic ending could've ever worked in a movie, and it was fine for the comic.

Sacrilege! Sacrilege!! How very dare you both
Best book ever written imo. Even if you don't like the comic book form you should give it a try. Very well deserving of heat

Does anyone know more about this 'Titan Edition'? The cover looks like what Amazon lists as the international edition. How does it compare in paper size, content and colour quality to the Deluxe and Absolute editions?

Ordered. I'm sure I'll get kicked by the Mrs for ordering more 'kids books'. She just doesn't understand the passion for graphic novels unfortuantly. Thank you

Its not hugely different, just the ending is tweaked and some extra side story, but i'd still definitely recommend it.

Still remember 1988 when I was in the old Forbidden Planet, they were selling all the original artwork for the first 2 issues.
It was like £100 a page. I bought 2, to sell them within a year. I look at them online now and they are worth about £32000
Kicking myself here.
