It might be old, slow, and lacking in every area (especially storage...4GB!), but as a basic backup phone it's got to be worth £20.

Cue all the "it's not....an iphone...running marshmallow....5.5" quad hd screen, blah, blah, blah". No it isn't but it isn't expensive either! At this price it's pretty much disposable - great for those people out there who continually lose phone's on nights out etc. With 1gb of RAM it's not gonna fly but it'll work just fine. Anyone know what they're like to unlock?

I'm glad its not just me who thinks like that. I come on here looking for phones. make up my mind then someone says battery life is bad or it overheats so yours back to square one. oh back to the days of no internet when there was not all this contradictory information
Great little phone not 'slow' at all great camera as well
storage is a problem mind

There's an unlocking app on Play Store called ZTE Blade Q unlock. It was £1.29 when I bought it a few years ago. Strangely, I installed on a Blade Q mini, copied the APK to my Samsung (to keeo the app) , ran it on the Blade and unlocked the ZTE phone then uninstalled it. Google refunded the payment because I uninstalled within 15 minutes of purchase. Still have the app and have used it since to unlock a few more Blade Q minis for free!

My other half used this model for nearly 2 years without problems for calls, texts, Facebook, viber, Internet, quite a few apps too. She was very happy with it until she lost it on a drunken night out. Nice camera for 5mp. Nowhere near flagship but a capable functional smart phone, even now.

Voted Hot.
EE Rook with better specs is available at similar price. But I had this ZTE phone until last year and loved it very much, so bought one today to keep as a backup phone.
Have you used the Rook? How does it compare to this and can it also be unlocked via app or only via ebay unlock codes?

I have used the Free App and it will give you an unlock code, which will be the same code you get from eBay for £1.
I only tried EE Rook few mins, so no experience on it. But specs wise it has 8GB Storage, 4G, Quad Core Processor, Front Camera, Lollipop etc.,

Bought one of these last week for the same price. Wanted something to take Glastonbury with me in a few weeks time which will do the job of photos and whatever else whilst I'm there without taking my decent phone.
Its actually half decent. For the price its an absolute bargain. I'd go as far as to so its better than a throwaway phone. Its not laggy really, I can have 3 or 4 apps open at the same time and its fine. Web browsing its perfectly fine and nippy on all pages I've tried. Media options are a bit poor, but its nothing Google apps doesn't solve with apps like TuneIn Radio, Poweramp, MX Players (all of which work perfectly by the way).
Device has no problem with 720p video either on youtube (although yes, I appreciate its lower than a 720p screen, but videos still look sharp on a 4 inch screen.) 1080 videos though are a no no, too choppy. But thats irrelevant anyway due to screen resolution.
Installed a few games from the store. Your standard toilet time games like Bejeweled blitz etc, all run without a hitch and are fine. Its even got enough power for emulation if thats your scene. Tried Snes, Megadrive, GBA etc, all run flawlessly. Even works with the IPega controllers, so its a mini gaming machine if thats your thing too. Impressive.
Camera takes decent shots in fairness, even in low light. Video however is rubbish as you would expect.
All in all, for £20, you really cant complain. You could argue it does the vast majority of things more expensive phones do.

Nice for the price..specs are not top of the line but the medium spec processor and graphics subsystem are not driving even a 720p screen so I fully believe what the owners say about not having any noticeable lag.

Bought one a year or two back. Was fine but soon ran into problems with the limited space for apps. Just too limited for me.

I haven't used a budget phone for many many years, in fact the last tim ei did it think it was an LG Cookie (remember them) and as such left a bad taste, but just had to buy a cheap moto g first gen and my god its snappy, i think if your not using loads of apps and want something for calls texts and basic internetz then budget phones are not what they used to be.

I am using this phone now, paid £60 from Argos. It is a great little phone but I only use facebook and twitter, no room for anything else. Due to the memory (4GB) I will be upgrading it next month!

Don't forget it can be rooted then use Link2SD or similar to store and run apps off the memory card: old-school processes that are easily forgotten about since the later Android releases made it more difficult.

What should hurt is that people buy them & make out they are great!
