I have this phone (about 2m now) running on Vodafone 4G - not changed the ROM, other than the OTA updates provided by Umi - works well as my daily phone, often I have 70% battery left at the end of the day.
Camera isn't the best indoors / dark / night, but daytime outdoor shots are fine.
Antutu benchmark score just over 37k, feels nippy enough (I'm not a mobile gamer), no noticeable lag.
Fingerprint ID works fine for me (others have said it's not v good.)
Happy to answer any questions about it

Not a huge fan of the MTK chipset, but it depends on what you want out of the phone.

MTK is great, low power, slick and you get *#*#3646633#*#* too.

No experience of this brand, but specs for the price looks good. The battery, at 4000mAh in particular.

thinking it's finally time to replace my Xperia Z1 - not too bothered about water resistance these days, but it's getting laggy - anyone know how this compares as a cheap alternative smartphone?

Just get it rooted and custom firmware put on it and it will be like new phone and you can take off everything you don't want on it.

Any news on the Windows 10 Phone ROM they promised before release? I preordered but cancelled because I was afraid they wouldn't ever get round to it.

They apparently have "5 ROMS ready to go" through Rootjoy, but are quite cagey about what these are and when they'll be released. Personally, I think you were right to cancel your pre-order if it was based on wanting this. I think you dodged ultimately being disappointed.

As an Umi Hammer S owner, I would advise all to steer clear. Zero support, limited functionality and poor quality control. Rant over!

I had a UMI Iron pro till yesterday. I would say it's really good and really durable.... I literally bent the phone in half breaking the screen and metal casing. I did this so I wouldn't punch my partner during an argument. Anyway, the phone was literally bent in half... the screen was shattered and didn't work.. but everything else did... I backed up all my data as it was still powered on and took out my sim and binned the £100 phone.. now on to my next victim.

This is my current phone. I was happy to pay a little more for the re-assurance of Amazon Prime. Happy with it so far and have to say it's exceptional for the money. Well built and runs well. It's already received 1 OTA update. I would say the camera is not the best but for general use it perfectly fine and I have found the battery charge to be slow but apart from it's all good. With the recent influx of chinese phones I'm not sure I will ever go back to paying top dollar for our flagship models

Yep, good thing about paying ~£100ish for a decent China phone is you can upgtade for whatever reason after a year and not lose much.

Yep, useful if e.g. you want to tweak the speaker or mic levels, but there's tons of options/tests.

*low power* is a joke right. Just look at the battery life difference between the Redmi note 3 vs note 3 pro

I'd get the Redmi note 3 pro for like £105

Or the Meizu MX4 Pro for 107 quid (ebay). If you can cope with 16GB and no SD card...

I got one, not impressed, flagship model, I don't think so, 4000ma battery drains quickly. Less apps than iron pro. Beware too about returns for repair, have to go to china usually at your cost. Had one umi phone out for repair 2 months now and still no sign of return ( different seller)
