Is it me or this watch is plain ugly ?

You can get quality, guaranteed, work on 'good' watches from highstreet 'Timpsons', they offer a basic 'battery for life' deal for around £12, which rises to around £20-£25 (can't remember exactly, sorry !) if you want it 're-sealed' & tested, in which case its battery, reseal & test for life... I'm having each of mine done as they require batteries.

That's terrible luck. My dad still has his Eco drive from maybe 15 years ago, I too have 3 of them of various ages. Other than changing straps on them every now again (and the date on the non perpetual calendar watch), they're fairly hassle free.

I wouldnt mind if it was a decade or 2 but 6 and 7 years? no way. Both were around £500 mark so i will not be going back to them. whats worse i have 2 other citezen watches that will no doubt get a replacement batteries in next couple of years.

Of course. These quartz watches run on typical alkaline cell sized batteries, which cost about £1 for decent ones, plus a few quid for labour.

Citizen ecodrive watches have a much larger rechargable battery within them (designed to be charged by light), that generally should not need replacing often - but over the course of a decade or two, they will stop holding their solar charge, so replacing those is quite an expensive job.

Beware of the cost of battery replacement on these, only Tissot will do it and it's extortionate! Most back street watch shops won't touch them for fear of breaking them.

The retailers seem really keen

It went via Goldsmiths in the end for £75. It was cleaned and polished along with the battery change but that's outrageous.

That said....it's a beautiful watch with bulletproof timekeeping.

Abit dark and busy IMO. Automatic Hamilton watches get my vote at this low end Swiss made price range. :wink:

Not my cup of tea but not a bad deal if you like the watch. Also got some decent offers on Rado watches on the site.

Replaced battery in my slightly older version for £4 last week. It's just a clip on/clip off case back; nothing needed other than precision screwdriver. G10 chrono movement offers no obstacles to battery change either.

Tissot are a great brand and when on sale they represent good value, but charcoal on black is a bad combination for legibility. I used to have the citizen nighthawk stealth version. It sat in a draw for 2 years before I sold it - because it has zero visibility unless your outdoors on a sunny day.

Another watch where the dark hands on dark background make it difficult to tell the bleeding time.

I'm no expert but surely being able to tell the time is the primary (only) function of watch........

Good deal, Tissot make some lovely watches, I have a Seastar and I love it. I personally prefer the black with rose gold version but its not reduced. Also I would recommend trying the watch instore first. Not sure what the sizing on these is like but when I tried on a PRC200 it looked ridiculously small on my wrist even though its not actually a small watch.

I've owned a couple of Tissot watches, quality watches. Must say I like the look of this. Potential 5% quidco people.
