I know, Gearbest is autocold, but these specs for this price are automegahot, so automegahot - autocold = mega = worth a "+"

It's the 2GB of RAM really, not often you see it on a phone at this price. Going on spec, it's a solid kids phone or low use user. It won't be replacing your Samsung or anything.

The camera will be [email protected] on this phone if that is one of your requirement when your looking to buy a new phone. I bought a Doogee X5 4G Pro when they were on offer on here for £36 and that came with a [email protected] 5MP camera (worst than Moto G 1st gen camera). I sold it on straight away.

A lot of these phones will have the effect of making people run back to the likes of name brands when they realise that their wonderfully photographed and high specification phone doesn't really work particularly well at the end of the day...
I'm sure there are some reasonable "off brand" names making phones but I havn't been impressed with the likes of Doogee, Teclast or Cubot so far.
Perhaps when my RMA'd Doogee X6 Pro comes back it'll be exactly what I hoped it would be - it went back because it really was pretty $hite.

Phones from HTC, Apple, Samsung etc use better quality components, generally. You also have to factor in warranty (which these basically don't have), R&D (these are just thrown together with very little thought for software or hardware optimisations), future software upgrade paths, customer service, advertisement. That's why you can buy a Timmaaaaaay for less than £50 while an HTC costs 10X as much.
Quality is more than just the sum of a phone's parts.
gtd65

Even the name brands get it wrong - I can't stand my very nicely made piece of crap called a Samsung Galaxy A3...but it's a much nicer phone to use than the Doogee X6 Pro

17 Jun 16#51
People who pay this sort of money are not looking for a fantastic camera, don't forget it was only a few years ago that people were quite happy with a 5mega pixel camera on their phone. I also know hundreds of people, through my job, that are more than happy with their 2/3 mega pixel selfies. So people stop going on about cameras on cheap phones, nobody cares.
gtd65
17 Jun 16#52
Being objective, I used to own a 2.1 mega pixel Canon camera and it took superb photographs - this was between 2001 to 2004. The 5/8 mega pixel (interpolated or not?) camera that is installed with the X6 Pro doesn't produce an image comparible to that of the 2.1 mega pixel Canon. The mega pixel rating is pretty much irrelevant to the actual quality of the image produced as the sensors, lenses etc are generally all of a much lower quality/grade.

My Timmy has arrived this morning. Its running Jellybean out of the box but a symbol popped up after a couple of hours and its currently doing a wireless update, hopefully that's Lollipop! Case that came with it is unusual. It a flap open case but the fitting requires you to remove existing back cover and this clips on in place. Cover is quite flimsy but the overall build is good considering the price I paid on offer. Seems heavy for the size and thinness but I'm happy.

I'm not an expert but it seems quick, I like the 2gb of Ram, very large battery but I've only owned it a day so to soon to judge battery life. For £38 good value, typical price on ebay is £50 perhaps there are some phones nearer to home that would match it, best to read specs and compare.

Mine arrived Saturday, came with a screen protector and 2 backs. 1 back was integrated with a flip case. The screen is responsive and good quality. The headphone jack audio quality is acceptable for the price but is way off the quality from my iphone 5s. Also the camera is just about adequate. Even for twice the price which is what it seems to be now this phone is very good value. Not laggy because of the 2gb ram. Tried some racing games and they ran fine. No bloatware seems pretty much stock lollipop. Not rooted as all 4 app works including the downloading.

My advice would be to forget the likes of Doogee if you want a decent experience. Yes they can do the job but I've just changed from Doogee X5Pro to ZTE Zmax 2. The ZTE is twice the phone from a quality point of view and everything works very well indeed. The Doogee X5Pro is very cheaply built but performs well enough. If you have low expectations, you'll probably be happy with it. I wouldn't pay than £25-30 for the X5Pro.... There's only one negative with the ZTE so far and that's the signal strength, it's not quite as good.
soldierboy001
9 Oct 16#83
I think your experience is a bit flawed as the Doogee is not cheaply built just because the case seems flimsy in fact it is a very strong plastic material that gives that false impression and at least it has 4G. The one negative is that it is on 5.0 and not 6.1 but the newer upgraded ,models do. In my conclusion the Doogee is a good phone for people just starting the Android experience but for better performance go for a newer Doogee, who get good reviews on all web sites that I have read.
gtd65
9 Oct 16#84
You are of course entitled to your opinion but in my opinion it's the most cheaply made back plate of any phone I've ever owned, let alone held before. Perhaps you've owned even lower grade phones to qualify your opinion?
Then there's the problems with video messaging in apps (camera app works OK), battery life is sub-par too. Folks complain that the mic volume is too low but I tend to use a headset when making calls anyway.
The plus sides would be decent performance with the 2GB of RAM. Good storage and the phones accept 64GB micro SD cards.
If you really consider the X5Pro to be a well made phone, then I can honestly say you've never held a decently built phone before...
I've never yet been impressed with an off-brand Chinese phone or tablet. Yes, they look good in the photographs and yes they have impressive looking numbers and specs. But as a complete package, they tend to be not quite so good with a number of negatives that take the shine off the purchase.
I'm definitely sworn off these chinese "off-brand" phones (e.g. Doogee) for now. I've been generally very impressed by phones from ZTE, which cost around the same or even less than a Doogee with dubious build quality and application glitches.

Firstly I own myself a Samsung S7 so yes I have held a quality phone.
Secondly I have purchased several of these Chinese no recognised name phones for friends and not had any complaints from them and one of them prefers it to his old iPhone so I am qualified to report on them. Yes the Doogee does seem to have a flimsy back when removing and replacing it but is almost unbreakable plastic type material that does give a false impression of poor quality but all is not what it seems.
As I think I said before some good phones for people just entering the Android platform.
Not suitable for the phone geeks I admit.

To be fair I owned a Samsung Galaxy A3 before the Doogee X5Pro - it was a very nicely built piece of crap...
Took wonderful photographs and video but the thing was a slow old dog of a phone.
Had to be rebooted to get the performance back into it on an almost daily basis - real shame as I really liked the feel and the quality of the phone - signal strength was also very poor due to the all metal case...

Thanks for the feedback guys. Was really hoping to hear about the Timmy M13 though 8-) Don't really need anything particularly powerful - 2GB/16GB should be fine for me, but I would like 2 SIM slots plus microSD support. If I were to go for something above the £60 mark I would be wanting a 1080p screen, in which case I was considering the ZTE Nubia Z7 Max, or possibly a Bluboo X-Touch (if I could get one for ~£90!).

Best advice would be to try to get your hands on the model of the phone you want to buy first. Or at least get some user feedback from somebody that can give accurate and objective information.
I've had very good results with ZTE over the years, I'm sure some folks out there might have poor experiences as well. Right now, I have the ZTE Zmax 2 which is way above either Doogee that I own but actually costs less money...
None of these phones are on contracts - bought outright for the prices shown.

Thanks. I'm just after a half-decent phone, and am not expecting anything cutting edge for under £60. Your ZTE ZMax 2 sounds interesting, but shipping not available on the link you provided - any idea where else it can be purchased on the cheap? Also, does it support dual-SIM plus dedicated micro-SD?

The Zmax 2 is excellent value for money but doesn't have dual sim slots - only one sim slot and a micro-SD.
