Yeah, I have when my chicken doesn't speak proper English. They'll be outsourcing our chickens to some Indian call centre before we know it.

I've never had a cheap bird, im a (bargain hunting) saver - they have all been spenders regardless of birth place...typical - a cheap bird comes along and shes frozen, no good for my purposes and a shame no matter how hot this thread gets she will never be hot enough for me :disappointed:

Scottish Smoked Salmon in Lidl is exactly that - farmed in Scotland, packed in Poland.

No but it's all about having confidence in my food and traceability . I trust British Farming methods and standards, and we have organisations such as Defra, Food Standards agency, RSPCA and Red Tractor scheme to monitor our standards, I no idea what other countries have ,

We are just weeks away from leaving EU. Who needs Poland and their chickens? What we only need is a fish and chips. And maybe a bit of vinegar of course.

Chicken came from Poland, so there is VAT return.i think in Poland 7% but may be wrong plus tax relief on additional costs. If Iceland is owner of chicken packaging company there they got vat return. VAT return costs EU countries bilions of pounds a year.
Making the story short probably you have a cheap chicken breast thanks to polish goverment and their revenue regulations

Go back several hundred years and the citizens of the world traded all over with no boundaries. Im sometimes baffled how they managed it considering the lack of technology and transport. now everything has to be british or its second class?

No, I haven't, but if you'd care to explain what that is and how it works on zero rated produce I'm sure it'd be fascinating.

Yea right, Britain is going to export a load of chicken to Poland just to have it packaged and then import it back and then sell it at a bargain price of £2.00. Also Iceland like other store would be quick to point out it was British chicken if that was the case

Good price, not for me thou it looks like it's Polish Chicken, according to the web site. Not voting either way on this one as it's my personal preference to only buy British Chicken
