Let's hope they don't start going bad within 24h. Noticed that when they sell them this cheap

East Yonderton have great strawberries. Been going to pick them since i was a child and they are always sweet. The raspberries are divine as well.
Ones bought from the supermarket are only sweet if in season and there has been sunny weather for the past week or 2. Also depends on variety.
Right after the heatwave i bought some Sonata ones from M&S and mostly they are grown in Scotland for Scottish branches. To my surprise they were sweet as hell. A couple weeks later i bought more but the weather had gotten milder and i noticed they were not as sweet.

My nearest Tesco (Hayes, West London) are also selling the totally tasteless "Elsanta" variety.

Couldn't find in a medium sized store. More the cherries the other day!
Seems like a lot of good deals are usually unavailable in London.....seems like companies think everyone in London is rich. There is seems to be an effort by government and big business to make life in London extra difficult for poor people in order to get them to move out so the rich can move in.

Just picked up mine from Leytonstone Tesco branch. They only had about 12 boxes hidden down the side aisle in total.

had these last year. dubious quality - but good enough for jam making.
They will be this years 'first batch' from the plants I guess, so will likely lack depth in flavour

bought Iceland strawberries today - very very disappointing - weak, watery, totally flavourless. asda ones were far better. incidentally, English strawberries are considered worldwide to be the finest anywhere if grown in season and not forced. Don't think the weather this year has done any favours though

Good to see some healthy food being discounted.
Usually, all I see confectionery being offered up at discounted prices, so this is good.
Voted hot.

These were S.England, kent- they were very average at best. They certainly did not look like those massive ones in the box in that picture.

The website doesn't seem to state which variety they are and that makes a big difference. The other day Tesco were selling their Finest Driscoll variety in the perfectly imperfect boxes so I was able to grab a few of them and they were delicious. Their average Sonara variety are not as tasty so it'll help a lot if someone who bought the 1kg box could tell us which variety they are.

They are not tasty at all- bought some yesterday. They range from mildly sweet to watery and then to just plain sour. british strawbwerries are just the worst.
