Thought I'd post these together. The TNG set had been doing the rounds on here @ £69.99 so this is a fairly decent price.
Alternately HMV have just dropped it down to £54.99 if that's your preference - http://store.hmv.com/film-tv/blu-ray/star-trek-the-next-generation-complete?_ga=1.233117854.1098651825.1466881681
The Voyager set rarely drops of late so I think £45 is fairly decent for that as well. Next best is £60 @ Amazon.
Next best on the Enterprise Blu-ray set is £48.99 @ Zavvi.
I'm rewatching DS9 at the moment, and while it's good, the Blu-ray TNG is just so much more enjoyable.

Pity Voyager isn't in HD.

Probably never happen, too expensive to remaster with not enough money back after they do it. TNG cost the best part of £15m to do.
Apparently they didn't make much (if anything) back on it despite the high bluray prices to recoup the remastering fee, and it's by far the most popular modern trek series.

Currently watching TNG Blue ray box set, it is the gift that keeps on giving. What am I doing with my life? almost at end of season 4.

Does anyone know if there are there any significant extras from the DVD box sets to the blu-rays? I've got all TNG on dvd in the silver plastic presentations but am mightily tempted to get the blu-rays.

I paid £64 for TNG collection on Blu-ray back in March. They have great transfers and there are brand new special features but I'm not sure if they ported over some from the DVDs.

I think The Next Generation cost $9 million. All the costs were paid for before the BDs were released with syndication sales. Unfortunately the Blu-rays themselves didn't do particularly well, they were poorly marketed and are a lot more expensive to make than DVDs.

Thanks AcornGuy. Of course, they're now out of stock and I haven't had chance to persuade my wife that I really need them, but thatnks again for the info.

I have seen reports anywhere between $13m-$20m to remaster, with the $9m figure usually attributed to just the first season, acquisition of the technology etc. We don't know for sure. It was the largest ever remaster project of it's kind. 178 episodes, each just over 40 minutes long, so it was huge. Needless to say it hasn't made CBS a lot of money.
When you look at the newer shows like DS9 and Voyager they could potentially cost a lot more to master per episode if they do it to the extent of TNG, as they have considerably more computer effect shots that would need replacing and re-rendering for a start. The margins would be even less, so it is even less economical for them, hence the improbability of them getting redone.

I think the $9 Million total is accurate from the articles I've read. CBS haven't lost any money on the project, but I think they were hoping for stellar home video sales to provide the impetus for future re-masters.

Now that this is all on Netflix UK I understand why the box sets were all reduced. Still a cracking deal though if you like physical media.

Anyone holding off the Enterprise set as it had risen to £50. It's back down to £40 again. £36 after code. Got one just now.
