I've used double edge razors for a couple of years now. I needed some new blades (the last Astra ones last 2 years) and stumbled on these. I didn't even notice they also included the handle and case as well so was surprised when that turned up too. I use an Edwin Jagger handle but the included one is worth a go considering the deal is so cheap.
I only shave twice per week and because the blades are so cheap I tend to only use each once. For less than a fiver these will last me a year.
Double edge shaving takes a bit of getting used to, everyone seems to recommend a decent brush and shaving soap but personally I use King Of Shaves oil first and then use Gillette gel on top. A really good shave and peanuts cost.
If you've ever wondered about switching from the expensive Mach 3 blades etc this is cheaper as those proverbial chips.

really good price especially for beginners but poor blades, voted hot but these blades could put you off for life, spend a bit more and use Astra's they're a good balance between cost and quality.

Currently using Feather blades but have just run out , where is the best place to get 100 blades from , the astra ones have great reviews so willing to go for those .... if someone could point me in the right direction for cheap blades it'd be appreciated !
Great spot by the way , this got a lot of heat a few years back at around £15 so this should get rather hot in here !!

I bought 100 Astra's from Ebay, I just made sure they where being delivered from England as a lot of the adverts are posted from abroad. 100 blades £8.90 delivered.
I know feathers are known to be be sharpest (and most unforgiving if you get sloppy!) but from experience im currently using Gillette 7 o'clock sharp edge (yellows) and they are easily as sharp as feathers, those who use DE blades will know its not always about sharpness but for those of us with titanium coated stubble we need sharp, Astra SPs for me just pulled

Never used this type of razor before but worth a punt at that price.

Just recently moved over to double edge razors and saved a fortune so far as the blades are relatively cheap and last quite a while before changing

Ordered this about 3 weeks ago at £4.90. Took three weeks to arrive but wasn't in a hurry. Razor doesn't feel too sturdy but will do for the overnight bag.
Had these blades (among others) before and just finishing up the last of my Feathers atm. Not much to choose between the two IMO.
Anyone else get the case where one blade every now and then lasts a fraction of the time the rest do? I've had this with every blade I've tried.

I experience the odd dull blade which dies off quicker or just isn't as smooth from the off. Think its just a small percentage the manufacturers accept

This is now saying 'we'll mail you when we have a delivery date ' still went for it though. Got a load of Astras, but quite happy with Derbys.

I'd highly recommend anyone switching to double edge shaving to purchase a sample pack that contains a variety of different blades. Otherwise you could get stung with a batch of blades that aren't suited to you.
I went through and reviewed all the blades in the pack and found only 1 brand that I'm satisfied with. Polski Super Stainless Steel, apparently these are Gillette Blades made for the Eastern European/Russian markets.
I found with all the rest of the blades, after the 2nd or 3rd pass the blade became blunt and unusable. Should say, have thick hair and coarse stumble.
For me, DE shaving isn't as convenient, quick and simple as using the well-known leading brand razor nor is it as effective. Although on balance its much better value.

was polski an autocorrect of polsilver? cos I've never heard of the former and the latter are many people's favourite all round.

I had my first shave with these today. I assumed all blades were the same but these Derby ones feel a lot thinner and flexible compared with my previous Feather ones. I wasn't totally sure about them while shaving however afterwards it feels like the nicest shave I'd had. Everyone's skin and stubble are different though so what works for one isn't necessarily right for everyone. At least these and other blades are so cheap it doesn't matter.

I started D_E shaving a year ago and as other said, get a sample pack and try the different blades, whilst a lot of people don't like them I find Dorco st301s to suit me. In 12 months my soap pot is only half used, I still have some other blades left from my sample packs , my alum block is still like new. It's a very cheap alternative and I actually like taking that little extra time for myself to have a proper shave rather than just dashing over my face with a Gillette.

worth it just to start DE shaving & you can then upgrade from there once you realise how much you are saving!
Get some arko sticks as well for shaving soap & away you go.
Years worth of shaving for the cost of a gillette 4 pack

I also recommend getting a mixed pack from Ebay - All bades are different & what works for some dont for others.
Astra is boderline OK for me.I like pol-silver but they not cheap!

Why do people still think you will get cut with feathers? They are the only blade I have not cut myself with!
There is an old saying along the lines of...."Nothing as dangerous as a dull blade" and with shaving this is very much the case! I have tried many blades and astras are ok but feathers are as sharp as a new astra after 3 shaves! So are actually cheaper in the long run
Would not recommend a beginner use cheap blades, Also need to remember a brush and soap/cream.

Just got my Razor today its not this one its a better one and i bought 100 GILLETTE WILKINSON SWORD blades off eBay i would think they are good because the name but id be interested to see what people think who have used these and do you have a link to the Astra blades as i keep hearing good things about them and the feather ones.
I know hence the very first line of my description at the top staying this. You can still order though and Amazon will deliver as soon as back in.

I prefer the astras to the GWS, Feathers will give you a shave like no other!
Seriously they cut through a beard like butter! Can usually get £100 for about £23 on ebay and most people get an easy 3-5 shaves from each blade so they work out cheap

Happy to try again. I have an Edwin Jagger brush and I think Edwin Jagger shaving soap but I didn't find it that great.

I've been using this exact razor with Astra blades for many years now. Think I paid about £20 ages ago.. Wouldn't go back to disposable now.. Not to mention the £££ saved. The chrome has started to come away from the bottom of the razor now, on the bit that you twist to remove the blade.. But it's still a fantastic razor. For another tenner, I'll replace and give Derby blades a go!

I use Edwin Jagger DE89 with astra or 7 o'clock blades. Mix and match between Proraso and Arko soap. Different at first but would never go back!

Thinking of getting into DE shaving so noob question, sorry. Can anyone tell me if all these DE blades are universal and will fit any DE razor? Thanks.

Yes all blades are universal and will fit in any double edge razor. Aslong as it's a double edge blade.
Best place to buy blades is ebay. As mentioned if you buy from a uk seller your going to be ok. Don't get really old uk blades, they were mostly terrible.
Voskhods, pol silver, rapira branded, any Gillette makes, and some astras are what most people go for. Most people like to mix things up, you will learn what blades feel like on your face, some days you might want a more forgiving fast shave.
Best soaps which aren't overpriced are derby, arko, or vitos Italian soap, or cella Italian soap are all highly recommended

I ordered this on June 24th but having given it a month and there's still no sign of a despatch date yet I've cancelled. Easy to offer a cheap price when you don't have to fulfil it. Shame.

I've also used Feathers but they 3 times the price, I find the Astras a good balance between cost and sharpness, I use each blasé just twice, use one side for one shave and the other side for the next shave, at 9p a blade their cheap enough to do this, Feathers work out around 20p or over each.
