I have a Seiki LED TV and the picture quality is just as good as my mates Samsung, this is a bargain. You will need a sound bar but picture quality is very good.

That was the crap model from 2 years ago. Not sure whether you can solve it using a firmware update

If you're gonna be playing ps4 games don't waste your money on a 4k set. resolution that won't even be used and possibly lag for scaling the picture. just get a decent 1080p set

Is playing FIFA (Ps4) on this going to do my head in? That's all I care about.

TV Arrived, I wouldn't recommend it as the main TV in the home, picture quality is very good but the audio is very tinny, if it was for me I would purchase a soundbar. Mother won't be complaining though, she's **** lugged

I got a Seiki 4k tv a while ago and the audio and video didn't even sync up. Also had huge input lag playing games even at 1080p. Mines was the Seiki SE39UA01UK 39" LED 4K model.

I am using it on 30hz because...
For the games my GPU can handle 4k, it would not handle at 60hz/60hz is unimportant: Namely Age of Empires 2.
For the games I want to run over 30fps (Dirt Rally, World of Tanks) I drop it down to 1080p where it looks fantastic and still outperforms my last TV (very old Panasonic 32" 1080p).
I did like the fact that I could run it in 60hz at 4k if I wanted by purchasing an active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. Otherwise I'll be waiting until I buy a GPU with HDMI 2.0, and the £20-£30 that the adapter would cost me makes me think I might well want to wait and put that money into a new GPU that supports HDMI 2.0.
What GPU have you got? What are your main uses?

List some competitors? How close do you want to sit? Is it just for a TV or for a monitor? Mine is being used as a monitor, which obviously means video usage too. It's set up now and I'm using it, but cannot review it too well just yet. With almost no set up it seems like a very reasonable monitor, haven't even begun playing with the colours and other options yet.

how about this one? - doesn't look as good, but it's at least smaller....
I've seen no competitors aside from those on here which were posted as deals, but nothing quite this cheap. I'm looking for it as a monitor, would prefer smaller but not going to complain at this price. I faffed around with trying to work out how I was going to get 60hz / hdmi 2.0, so that's why I missed it. It's a confusing unsupported standard. Are you using it on 30hz or 60?

For future reference: My TV arrived and I am using it, and the input lag seems absolutely fine. This is just via HDMI 1.4 too!! So. *******. Thrilled.
Age of Empires 2 in 4k is sublime! I can see everywhere...

I picked up a Bush 4K 40 inch TV earlier in the year for £200 which I'm using as a monitor with my 12 inch macbook. I telecommute so use it practically everyday for work. You can get 8 sides of A4 Word pages on screen at once and they are all still readable. It works very well indeed with no noticeable lag at 4K. Absolutely crucial to have a HDMI 2.0 port. Mine has one HDMI 2.0 port, and the others are not. The TV is unusable as a monitor using those other ports as the lag is positively dreadful.
One of the things with these cheap TVs is that you must tweak the settings - especially if using them as a monitor. Turning the sharpness off or way down will often help.

I take it the SE42UM is the American version of this TV. If it is there is a chance the update posted will not work on this EU TV. I got caught out by this before. I bought a SE39UY04 to use as a monitor (not used for hi-res games) in December, 2014 and the lag was terrible but I had read up on it and knew there was a user modified firmware patch out there that would go some way towards fixing the problem. I tried the new firmware and it was rejected. Not giving up I also tried emailing Seiki to see if they would help, I'm still waiting for an update from them.
Even after 633 days of almost daily use, playing my favourite crystal matching game (Bejeweled Blitz) is still more a chore than a pleasure so don't count on getting used to it. My advice is to make sure the update (if it needs one) is available for this model or there are enough reviews saying that lag is no longer a problem.

How to get 60hz 4k without a GPU that has HDMI 2.0 out. Warning, you'll have to accept a lower number of colours as a result (there are always trade offs, right?) see here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2554074/displayport-hdmi.html
There are links in there to http://www.uptab.com who do a connector (£30/$30) and then there is a club 3d one as well. Perhaps best not to plump for the cheapo $11 one that someone links to as reviews say it doesn't work.

I've just bought one of these on the basis that any games that I need to play at over 30hz my card won't actually handle due to the quality of the card, rather than the lack of HDMI 2.0. So it's fine. General stuff at 4k with 30fps and then the odd game that I need more frames on I'll run at 1080p and it'll still look SAF and better than my current display does in 1080p (I hope

I think I can't because the TV doesn't have Display Port in. I'd need to set up dual HDMI cables in. I think I'm going to buy it and run it at 30fps in 4k for images and general use, and possibly some gaming, and for games where I need 60fps I'll run it in 1080p. Will still look better than my current 1080p panel.

No, but you need HDMI 2.0 which is still relatively rare for a GPU. I'm in the process of trying to work out if my R7 260X will manage it over Display Port 1.2 - I need to work out if this is a tiled panel or not.
This is THE thread for info about this TV.. http://www.overclock.net/t/1563005/seiki-se42um-thread/30
Specs say this supports 4k at 60hz on the HDMI 2 port. Also one of the reviews is from someone who uses it exclusively as a PC monitor in 4k. No mention of lag so think I am going to take a punt at this. Very neatly bought a Hisense TV as they get quite favourable reviews but at £100 less has to be done.
