Very hard to say. I've heard contradictory stuff online.

So hard to keep up , so once I connect this 8 bit tv to a Xbox one S that plays ultra blu Ray discs will I notice a difference between this and a tv with 10 bit ?

Can't see mention of 8-bit vs 10-bit, but I found the HDR setting, but my HDMI doesn't seem to like having both HDR and sound at the same time - could be a problem with my htpc, but in any case, if necessary I'll be able to port the sound another way once I get any HDR content.
Overall very happy with basically everything picture-related but the OS is sluggish and there a couple of other minor glitches, which I'd really hope not to have in a £600 samsung product.

Proper HDR is 10 bit, what this TV does is take the 8 bit and scale it up to 10 bit HDR, in that sense its not true HDr
Bit like saying 720p is HD when true HD is 1080p

It will play hdr content as it should be shown( so not a washed out mess) but only has an 8bit panel so won't look quite as good. I have this tv in our bedroom, life of pi, which is one of the only things I have watched in HDR looked amazing!
I've owned this TV since late December so 6 months. I've had issues with it randomly turning off, Currys don't offer support for Samsung TVs so I was directed to Samsungs own support, they're incredibly helpful. I watch a a decent amount of 4K content through netflix and it's stunning. I paid £750 and I'm very happy with the purchase. If anyone has any specific questions I'm more than happy to help.

how is the motion blur on your tv for example have you watched any fast moving sports e.g. football on your tv at 4k? or even regular tv viewing on upscaling like eastenders... or daytime programes
oh and have you played any game console on it mainly ps4 or xbox one?
hows that?

What did Samsung advise re the turning off? Mine has done it a couple of times. Great set, otherwise imo

For me, Samsung seem to have gone downhill lately. My last 2 TVs have been spot on until I got the UE55JS9000 which kept randomly restarting itself. Got a refund from John Lewis and bought from Crampton and Moore and that did the same so just gave up! Sticking with my old one for now.

I don't know if it's motion blur or whatever but when watching football on it (sports mode as far as i can tell just makes things brighter) when the ball is fast-moving it seems to skip frames, or it's not smooth.

They make you factory reset it, there's some hidden menu you can access when your TV is turned off there's a sequence of buttons to press and the TV powers on in a menued mode, I reset it from there and since then no issues.

I've used my PS4 on it and it looks great, it has a game mode but I've not used it. From what I can tell there's little to no motion blur, I watch so much football on this set and it's good but only in HD. I've played about with 4K youtube football videos, there's ironically a panasonic 4k football video with Barca and I haven't noticed any issues. I don't have BT so haven't experience UHD live football.

This tv does actually support HDR, albeit with an 8bit panel and not 10bit. But does indeed play HDR content correctly.

Confused - what is HDR if not 10-bit colour?

I sent back the 55" version of this due to terrible light bleed, motion blur, clouding - absolutely awful TV.
Apparently the 50" panel Samsung use is made by a different manufacturer to the 55" but I'd still be very wary.
Swapped for a Sony which blows the Samsung out the water in every respect - staggeringly good imagine quality, contrast, refresh rate, build quality etc.

If you want real HDR support people, stop looking at old televisions..

Where can I get 4k sports?
Purpose-built my HTPC for 4k output and am in the process of downloading a few things - some remastered, some filmed in 4k - ready to test along side youtube 4k feeds.
Reading a few things in forums suggest this can actually output 10-bit colour (HDR) and is 'SUHD' rather than just UHD.
I'm not really a fan of UHT so we'll see how much I like this.

easiest way just download any lastest 4k sports (e.g. football) from youtube. download it on to actual HDD not (usb stick) and play it back on your tv...

13 Jun 16#3
No HDR.
Am led to believe the 55" and 50" versions use slightly different tech and the light bleed isn't as much if an issue with this one.
Mine arrives tomorrow, so will report back.

does anyone know the REAL refresh rate/processing rate/frames per second for this TV??
I know in the specification it states that processing rate 1400 PQI is but what is that exactly in conversion to real refresh rate...
because my Samsung tv 60 Hz and not looking to get same/or worse case lower spec than the 60 Hz.
I want 120 Hz and higher!
