We all know about the o2 deal that loads of us wasn't lucky enough to get a couple of months back. I think this is the first deal that I've seen that is comparable in *value*, even though it costs ever so slightly more.

-Unlimited Mins
-Unlimited Texts
-*5GB* of data
-Quidco available (£30)
-NO Upfront cost

Personally I'm happy to pay £2 more than the o2 deal and get 5GB of data. Once you factor in Quidco it costs the equivalent of £32.24 a month!...Meaning it's only 74p more than the o2 deal a month, over the term of the contract.

Remember this is the Edge version (bigger screen, beveled edges, bigger battery) and not the standard S7.

On a side note, I moved from Giffgaff to EE due to terrible speeds last week. The difference is huge! I don't even need to speedtest it, it's night and day.

You'll need to scroll down the list on the website. It's currently the 4th entry.

Hope it helps someone.

Sorry why is this cold!

I knew it would go cold the second I posted it because a huge amount of people only vote based on the price over the contract and effectively ignore the calls / texts / data being included. It's very strange.

When I was looking for a S7 edge deal, I used the search on this site to narrow down the best deals and check them out as a starting point. I believe this truly is the best value one out there with a decent amount of data, so I just hope someone else comes across it by using the search function.

I actually purchased this just under 2 weeks ago, but with the £50 upfront cost. A bit annoying, but I'm still happy enough and don't want any of the hassles of sending it back.

Just a heads up though - I watched S7E deals for a few weeks before jumping in. When deals like this pop up on MobilePhonesDirect, they don't last long. I assume they have a limit at that price.
The exact same deal is also listed at £38.49 / month, which I assume it will revert to after X number have been sold at the lower price. I missed out on 2 occasions and kicked myself over it for a week!

TCB also have £33.00 cashback, but I prefer QuidCo after too many non-tracking TCB's along with other users.

803.76? China price for we spec, circa £200. Samsung must think were all bonkers. 10,years back Samsung phones were cheapies remember? everyone wanted a Nokia. Yes, they-are-a-changin'
luke-kirk to alexoakleyalexoakley
16 Jun 16 #6
Research and development, marketing employment, transport not cheap you know...sure they are priced at more than they are worth but that's good business, supply and demand...do you think Nokia weren't making these sorts of profits on thier old phones? end of the day when you take the value of the minutes, data and texts it leaves the device costing a very respectable amount...also here's why they're changing...Why Nokia got destroyed by Samsung and Apple

This looks like a cracking deal, not sure why voted cold. If you consider a sim only deal with the amount of data, it would cost about £ 15 pm. Which takes the handset code to around £440 and in my opinion is a good price for the Edge which you won't get in a chinese cheapie.

Yes, can see it again now, was a bit strange as I added it to my basket and phoned up EE (my contract is up with them so have a PAC code) to see if they could match the deal (they couldn't) and during this time the order in my basket changed from £33.49 to £38.49.

I've seen it again now and have ordered at £33.49 - time for PAC code ping pong.
nomnomnomnom
16 Jun 16 1 #11
I've done the ping-pong in the past. Found it to be easiest with Giffgaff as it was all online and automated.

Cracking deal with EE I think, Doubt EE direct will match it as ive tried numerous times.
Vodafone have been leading the way recently with there £32.00 for 6gb and £37.00 for 12gb (Via mobiles.co.uk) with a small handset price. This is best EE deal ive seen.
Does it include EE Extra?
I was under impression if you went direct with EE it would but if via 3rd party then no.
Heat from me great find either way if you managed to get it as this price as I know its gone back up again

Just a note if you click on get deal its £38+ but if you alter the monthly rate and reduce upfront cost to £0 it shows the deal, but not EE Extra

@nomnomnomnom

have you bought a case yet? Any recommendations?
nomnomnomnom
16 Jun 16 #23
Yeah, I've got 2. One is a wallet type and one is just a general one for when I'm working from home:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01AL2FGKK/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Good quality and real leather. Bulks the phone up though! Gets the best reviews out of all the wallet style cases.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01D33WMW4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
No problems, fits very nicely. Makes it a bit hard to press the lock button due to the material, but it's not too problematic.

16 Jun 16 #24

Thanks! Just got this deal instead. Worth the £2 for faster 4G and Europe Calls/Texts I think. My data usage is between 2 and 3 Gb, so don't mind the 1 gig less!
nomnomnomnom
16 Jun 16 #26
I honestly don't think the 'faster 4G' is worth the cost in most cases. I'm on the normal package and get over 35 meg a second in a pretty low signal area. Quite remarkable.

The EU roaming though...that's absolutely worth it if you travel to the EU regularly. If you don't, then buying the packages when you go would probably work out better value.
nomnomnomnom
16 Jun 16 #27
I didn't. Hardly any of the edge ones get good feedback. That and I don't see the point with the wallet style case. I find them more irritating than useful to be honest.
I'm insuring the phone, so if the worse happens, I'll just get it replaced.

17 Jun 16 #46
Good phone these. Moved from a standard S6. Wanted the extra screen size without going overboard for a phone. (Note edge).

I've got a zagg HD shield on the front and a spigen slim case. (Cost me about 35 in total for both on release). Probably cheaper nowc. Shield is great.... and the case is spot on. Slightry raised case from the back of the phone... so dust doesn't scratch etc.

S6 had a tempered screen, which will always be my first choice. However tempered and curved don't go hand in hand. You lose screen sensitivity.

advice needed, my wife's has just asked for her pac code from EE, and despite beign there for 10 years, they haven't offered her much through retentions, she got 1 call back with a goodish offer, but the Guy never called back, and her call back to retentions they denied they could match what had previously been discussed.

i guess you can't take the number with you, if she signed up for this, as same network? is there a workaround for this?

anyone moved from EE to 3 or vodaphone, what was service like?
nomnomnomnom
17 Jun 16 #48
Yup, it's easy :sunglasses:

Get your PAC code
Order a free sim from Giffgaff
Transfer the number to Giffgaff
Order this phone - you'll get a new number with it (you can do this at any point really, but the offer does change often so keep that in mind!)
Request your PAC from Giffgaff (all automated, no one to speak to)
Request a number port to it through your 'MyEE' account and give them the PAC

Sorted :sunglasses:

It sounds long winded, but it really isn't. I've done all of the above in under 48 hours before.
cleverguy12

EE gives me the best 4G coverage I've ever had. I'd be loathed to move to Vodafone which is expensive and has poor coverage. As for moving to Giffgaff, you're moving from a prime parent network to a virtual network which runs on O2, I'd never do that either, yes you get good tariffs but you get second rate data speeds.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_Kingdom_mobile_virtual_network_operators

You definitely can take your number with you to any UK network.

Shame was looking at the S7 edge but just renewed my Vodafone contract to 12 month sim only with unlimited mins, text, 20GB data, Spotify premium for £22 a month. Didn't think it would be much of upgrade on my LG G4
djbenny1
17 Jun 16 #55
Wish EE had a deal when I got the O2 deal. O2 by far the worst network for coverage I've ever had, absolutely tragic. I'm currently using a three monthly sim (which is great and was my previous network) and paying for the O2 one anyway as I don't have a choice. O2 really are absolute [email protected]@cks. This is a far better deal than the one I'm on because it's not O2.

nomnomnomnom
17 Jun 16 1 #59
This mirrors my experience exactly!
I was on Voda for ages, but the coverage was poor and it was too expensive.
I moved to Giffgaff, which was fine when it first started. The internet got slower and slower, to the point of being unusable. In some city centres it was okay, but outside of that, not great.
I thought I'd give EE a try and it's been fantastic. Signal is much better - voice calls are clear, data is fantastic to use, the ping is much lower than on Giffgaff....really happy I moved.

I live in an estate with a poor signal. I get 1/2 bars on my phone in doors. Just did a speedtest in my house with 2 bars on this phone and it was 24Mbps down, 9.4Mbps up, 27ms ping. That's faster than many people's internet connections at home. I've seen much higher in town and the city.

As an alternative buy handset outright from Samsung. 639 - 30 (if the code still exists) and 12 cash back with quidco. 20 per month o2 simo with 20gb data and 50 quidco. Possible 639 - 30 - 12 + 240 - 50 = 787 total. I know it's an initial outlay but total is reduced slightly and not tied in for an extra year

Going to pull the trigger, but cant decide on S7 @ £30.99 with free calls/text usage abroad/faster 4G (4GB limit) or S7 edge @ 33.49 (5GB limit). Looking at reviews they say phones are equally as good.

nomnomnomnom
17 Jun 16 #70
I'm on the normal 4G and I've seen 30Mbps+, so unless you're doing something that requires high bandwidth, I really don't see the point in more.

The phone choice is preference. The edge doesn't do anything for me (it looks nice though!), but the battery is bigger in the edge.
For reference, I unplugged my phone at 9am this morning and have done some light browsing through the day on it and a few short calls. Battery is currently at 70%. It's stunning. I could easily get a few days out of this....and nevermind fast charge being great.
Throw in a slightly bigger screen, and I think the extra few quid a month is worth it personally. It will also have a higher resale value later on....anyone's guess how much though.
jonhoggy
17 Jun 16 #71
Id agree with the 4G, but the free calls abroad would be handy. Just not sure if the bigger screen/slightly better battery outweighs free calls abroad and £60 less. That extra half inch, hmmm. Is yours an S7 or edge ?

Mine is the edge.
I missed the abroad bit - if you travel then yes, that would be worth it. I guess it depends on how much you use your phone while out of the country. For me it's rare, so I'll just buy the addons when I need them. If it's often for you, it will pay for itself quickly.

17 Jun 16 #74
What's the point of spending £100's on an S7 then just using it for light browsing, you could do that with Moto G or even E!!

Both the S3 and the S7 use microSD cards, so it will work with this phone.

Large, faster cards are very cheap now though, and I'd really recommend buying one along with the phone from Amazon if yours is an older, slower one. Slower cards can have an impact on the operation of your phone.

We have submitted your account application with EE who have advised that the application is referred.
This is nothing to worry about as this is quite common and just requires an agent at EE to manually assess your application which will take a little longer.

You do not need to contact us or EE. EE will respond to us with a decision for you within their agreed response time of 2 working days.
Once we have received a decision on your application you will receive an email confirming your status update. Please note that we cannot ship your order until we receive confirmation that your credit check has been accepted by the network.

They offered me the price on the O2 website which is like 8 quid more per month, has an up front cost and then spouted all the marketing spiel of why O2 is better. This '4Gee extra' they talk about, is it really that much quicker? I went to the EE store the other day to see if they'd price match and they started waffling on about how if I bought it through a 3rd party without 4Gee extra, my Internet speeds would be considerably slower and I wouldnt get access to their WiFi calling. Seems like a rather crappy two teir system they run.

Voted hot although not for me as I've been having terrible problems getting a £50 refund from EE for a cancelled order going back to 4th April (11 weeks ago). Credit card company taking care of it now.

Next best deal I can find is Carphone Warehouse, but only 3GB data on Vodafone. For anyone interested it's 24 x £32 + £100 up front = £868 total with a possible £75 Quidco bringing it down to £793 total or £33.04 per month. Also comes with free Samsung VR headset.

Yeah mines updated to waiting on handset arrival.

Evidentally their stock system isn't very good. Just a good job I won't be home tomorrow anyway I suppose. :P

I believe this has just ended unfortunately :disappointed: can someone confirm? It's still on website but when you try to buy it it says "this deal has ended?"
nomnomnomnom
20 Jun 16 #121
If you buy it from the banner at the top, you'll get that message.

If you buy it from the list below it, it still works. Quick, before they pull that one too! :sunglasses:

Ive already purchased it fortunatly, If anyone is going for this please be aware that both handsets are due in stock on the 22nd as they have sold out haha! in both colours :disappointed:

I would say this is a decent deal. I think the deal I got was Unlimited minutes and texts 3GB data and maybe £50/75 upfront. If this deal were available then, I would totally get it.

£5 top up by the looks of it now. Didn't used to be :disappointed:

Might be worth looking at one of the £1 SIMs from EE or others on ebay with this in mind.
luvadealme
21 Jun 16 #128
thanks, just checked, looks like £5 monthly recurring (I assume this can be cancelled straight away?) or £10 top up.

Yes, they're monthly and it's no contract. You can cancel it immediately.

I topped up my GG sim with £5. I then transferred the number in yesterday to GG.

It wouldn't let me get a PAC yesterday but I got the PAC today and have used it so back on EE tomorrow.

I am contacting you regarding the stock of your order. I have just received my latest stock report and for the Samsung SM-G935 Galaxy S7 Edge 32GB Black - EE, it is due in on the 22/06/16. Once this has been processed in to the system, it will be allocated for dispatch as soon as we get this stock in so I would expect it to be with you Thursday or Friday this week.

Once this is in stock we will send you an email to confirm.

Many Thanks,

Bloody love this site, only decided I wanted this phone on the weekend so pretty pleased to see this. Just got on to the deal late Monday (£35.99 one) but no dispatch date as yet.

I have a work save scheme that also offered £30 cash back so all good there as well.

They actually moved the deal into the 'sale' section well after a large number had ordered them. It was listed as a standard contract without anything special being there. If this matches what you ordered, then raise a claim, as they should pay out for it.

anyone else had the weird phenomenon whereby the new number has been transferred to giff gaff but is still working on the old network?
notavalidaddress

Yes, inbound calls were being routed to Giff Gaff as expected but I could dial outbound from the old sim and the Giff Gaff sim and it came up with the same number on the recipients device.
luvadealme

ok to request the giff gaff pac to move it back to the same network we were previously on, or a little bit too early?

My transfer from EE to GG was completed on the Monday. It would not let me get the PAC code on GG that day.
On Tuesday I requested and got my PAC code from GG and applied to transfer it back to EE.
The transfer completed on the Wednesday.

Got my phone today and original seal was broken with a new one over the top. Called up to check wasn't refurbished and they advised had a batch with faulty chargers so the warehouse opened to replace and resealed.

Anybody else having the issue where it's trying to charge for the phone once it's added to the basket, despite it saying 'free phone' ? If I add it via Top Cashback, it charges £139.99 for the phone, but if I do it via HUKD, it adds £37 on for the phone.
nomnomnomnom
25 Jun 16 #163
Yeah, someone else in the thread had the issue.

I just added it and it's still free here. Try clearing cookies / another browser.

25 Jun 16 1 #164
Thanks mate. Sorted it just before you replied by clicking on the iPhone deal on TopCashBack and then clicking through to the S7 edge deal. Then for some reason when I added it to the basket it came up free. Odd, but not complaining!

Thanks for the find on this deal, it's considerably cheaper than any of the other deals with a stack of data

Next best I've found is this, with a £50 upfront cost, but using JUNPAY16 will knock a tenner off this http://www.mobiles.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-silver.html?tid=XE1TMAPR162&gid=NA
Ross87
30 Jun 16 #170
I've received mine and it's an excellent phone, it's just a shame the network is shocking. Cannot even get 4g at my workplace where even Vodafone gets it! No other network struggles there, but EE struggles to maintain a 3G signal. Mobile Phones Direct will be calling me to discuss options later today.
mmurdoch
30 Jun 16 #171
Got to agree with ref EE. Had them for years but all of a sudden this year there are struggling to give me a decent signal and 3g/4g even in areas were it used to be spot on. Wonder what the hell is happening
nomnomnomnom
30 Jun 16 #172
Flag it to them - EE has the best coverage according to OFCOM and other tests. Could just be issues they're not aware of.
mluton
30 Jun 16 #173
For poor phone signal.
EE Wifi calling, it uses your wifi for calls and texts, no issues now.

Go to phone > more > settings> scroll to bottom > tick the Box and then wait for a text, youll then see a new icon at the top of the screen, I had to reboot phone.....

and hey presto, perfect calling now.
http://ee.co.uk/help/phones-and-device/wifi-calling
Zafir
30 Jun 16 #174
My signal always seems to have a low amount of bars around where I live, but it doesn't seem to affect much. I'm still getting pretty decent speeds 8Mbps-20Mbps (On o2 I was getting around 7Mbps-10Mbps) and phoning/texting is working fine.

Overall I've been very happy, had to mess about a bit to get adoptive storage working, but besides that great phone.
Ross87
30 Jun 16 #175
I activated wifi calling for home use, but my employers don't offer Wifi for staff unfortunately. Apparently the s7 Edge is network locked (according to MPD), so had to return it to MPD. Called EE and they were useless. Some chavvy sounding lad basically told me that 3G is spotty at best in my works area and wasn't interested in the slightest. Wasn't even bothered when I pointed out their website said I would get 4G coverage.
luqyno1
3 Jul 16 #176
thats strange, i got my s7 edge under the same deal and same place and its unlocked, thought this was the case with all of these websites that deal with multiple carriers.
Ross87
4 Jul 16 #177
That's what I thought as there was no branding, but apparently it was network locked on the first sim entered. Thinking about it now, I think it was a ploy to get out of just supplying me with a new sim for a new network, with the same agreed costs. I'm happy though as I went back to Vodafone with a retention deal - Free s7 Edge, 6GB data, Unlimited Minutes, Unlimited texts, Unlimited roaming texts and minutes and 500mb of roaming data + £20 account credit for £32.90 a month.
luqyno1
9 Jul 16 #178
Stellar deal! Mine is unlocked though, i had a three sim and put that in first as that contract was at its end, then after 3 days i transferred my number and put the ee sim in just fine, i would have been so annoyed if it had locked to three, dodged a bullet there!
Ross87
9 Jul 16 #179
To be honest I'm not surprised to hear that MPD lied to me on that front as well. I was misled by them on 4 different occasions and I'm still awaiting a manager to call me back, when a complaint was lodged with them on the 6th June (apparently they were going to call back on the 7th at the latest after they'd 'reviewed the call recordings').

Even EE will be raising issues with MPD about their conduct and misleading business practices. I shouldn't be surprised as after all they are part of the Carphone Warehouse group.

Thoughts so far on this deal which I opted for..,..... Brill phone which worked well for 3 days...then died. Wouldn't turn on . Black screen but red LED. Battery eventually ran out....after getting quite hot, then turned on for a second and died. then wouldn't charge up. Couldn't claim on insurance as was within MPDs 14 day thing...so called them. They refused to send me a replacement handset until they had received the broken one back. sigh. Sent it back but forgot to include charging cable which was still plugged at work. They emailed me to say the exchange would be delayed until they had received it. sigh. Posted it them 1st class. They wouldn't move on the policy of not replacing just the handset. This was about 10 days ago. Not heard from them. I personally would never buy from them again due to their appalling returns T and C's and their arrogant |CS. No doubt if i ever get a replacement handset sent back to me, it will need to be sent to my home address and not to my work address, the fourth lot of inconvenience. Ready for a lengthy complaint...and probably as it will be in their T and C's a lengthy complaints process. Perhaps i am the only one.... :-(
