What makes this so special compared to other VR headsets? Just a quick google brought me here

"CB Enabler for Gear VR" allows you to enable/disable Oculus on the fly (no reboot required).
So you can disable Oculus, start any app, insert device into VR headset and your app remains running.

Used these at Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend. The Jaguar Wimbledon experience was insanely realistic. Whereas the Audi version, whilst you could make choices by looking at a point, was a bit boring. Get the content right and you'll love it!

Read some of the reviews - one who bought both samsung VR and shinecon - tells shinecon has better lens! Anyways I do agree that samsung products has some Oomph factor but I do not see huge difference... the good thing is you do not need specific phone with Shinecon. But do agree samsung might have additional controls and features+Oculus added but is that worth £63 is the question. Anyhow voted hot since the price for this VR is best. Will I be going for it? No. I already got Shinecon and its awesome and does the job. :wink: (oh yea and its got a bluetooth controller as well free)

For those complaining about video if you got plex use the Web browser to log on to your plex no need to overload ur phone with video. Also I second the motion on using a free vpn from playstore to get milk vr. Hotspotshield works a treat. My wife loves it as I can watch TV in bed and she can sleep without flashing lights. For those concerned about ur eyesight. I've had no problems. But some of you might be worried about growing hair on ur hands :smiley:

So I'm gunna cut straight to the chase on this one can I watch porn on one of these things :P

VR currently is good, although the 1440p resolution of the phone is nowhere near enough yet. You really need a minimum of 8K for decent VR, it will happen, however for what this can achieve with a phone, is staggering, really excellent experience in terms of the pure VR experience.

The Oculus store has two massive flaws, which prove to me that Oculus are bit clueless with User Interface design:

1. No video preview for any apps or games. None whatsoever. You have to come out of the GearVR go on your PC and try and find video demos of the games. This is terrible, almost unforgivable.
2. No search facility! That's right, you can't search the store or your library when wearing the GearVR, absolutely terrible again.

Oculus have a lot to learn and they need to learn quickly as competitors have better systems. There's no way I'd get an Oculus Rift as I know the Rift has the same issues in the user interface, plus the resolution is even lower on a PC.

Even in 2016 VR is not up to the job, it's incredibly immersive, it gives an experience like no other, but resolution is the huge flaw. I'm not joking when I say it really needs a minimum of 8K resolution, plus Oculus are total noobs with their software design.

Having given some quite serious criticism of the GearVR experience, it really is a no brainer to get the GearVR if you have a Galaxy S6 or S7 phone, there's some excellent experiences to be had with it.

Tactera - It's only a demo, but the potential here is mind blowing
Herobound - N64 style 3D world, amazing, but you need a controller
Dreadhalls - Jesus, nightmarishly scary
Smash Hit - Wow! You must get this.

I got one of these from Very, using a £30 off voucher for new customers, taking the price down to £49.99. Operation is a lot more slick that the Google Cardboard headset i had used before, phone slots in perfectly (using a Galaxy S6), and alot more comfortable than the Cardboard. However, when you insert the phone the first time you have to install the Oculus software, and are then limited to using their pre-installed apps or the apps in the Oculus store. With the Cardboard i was able to use ES File explorer to play files stored on my home network, but i can't find any way of doing this on the Gear VR, so i have to copy the files to phone. I also don't think the image quality is any better on the Gear VR than on Google cardboard. Just my tuppence worth!

This tech is absolutely useless for another 2-3 years.

I would highly recommend using a vpn to connect to the US occulus store and downloading samsung milkvr it has a more content on there. Also download sideload vr for even more apps including youtube.

would really like one of these but my 7 and 4 year old would be all over it but wouldn't be able to use it. I would only use it for Netflix and maybe download the odd 3d movie as I have no 3d tvs in the house so a lot of money ending up being a gimmick really
