Here we have again Samsung Galaxy Note 4 possibly at the lowest price available. Yes its factory refurbished but still comes with 12 months Samsung warranty and I assume condition is as good as new.
I was chasing this phone almost 5 months checking Samsung website with some hope it will be available refurbished soon or later but in the end gave up and got 1 of gumtree at £210 in mint condition. Been using it for almost 2 months and very happy with it. Yesterday software been updated to the latest version 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Now tempting to sell mine and get 1 from Samsung. 12 months warranty makes a difference.

Don't know how old the batteries will be on these but samsung batteries start going bad at about 12 months and are pretty awful at about 18 months. I bought an anker replacement (as there seems to be so many fake official samsung ones) and its like new again lasting a very heavy 24 hours or 2 days of good use. Just keep it in mind if the battery seems very bad. Otherwise still one of the best phones you can get and nothing else I want until the note 6/7 arrives

I had a z3 before this and that was awful unless you had 5 minutes to take the perfect shot. apart from newer samsung phones..there isnt much that can compare to this imo

They are skipping 6 and jumping to 7. Supposedly it's to keep aligned with S7 and so that people don't treat it inferior to it.

My S5+ (g901f) which has same spec as this phone aside from cpu clocked 200mhz lower and larger screen was like this before upgrading to MM but ever since I did the phone has improved exponentially it feels like a different phone. I used to get home from work (9-5) with 20% left or under with light usage but now I get home with 75-85%. It feels far more responsive as well. Hope it does the same miracle for you.

Did you see my post? you need a new battery. Get the Anker one on amazon for £14 and you will have great battery life again
Edit - for example my battery is currently on 80% with 5 hours off charge and 2 hours screen time. before I replaced the battery I was getting about 3 hours screen time and random massive discharges and turn offs at 30-40% battery now it will go down to 0% (well I let it get to 3% before finally charging)

I've got no experience of the Note 5 but I've had my Note 4 since May 2015. I can't find fault with the fingerprint scanner. I've only started using that security method for the last six months on lollipop and it's always been pretty rapid at removing the screen lock.

I'd forgotten about the finger print swipe to unlock on note 4, yes that is actually one thing that is a bit better on 5... the swipe felt a bit primative compared to the 'normal' touch ID on s6 note5 etc, it shouldn't be a deal breaker though, i read ppl saying it was unreliable, at the time someone else wrote register same thumb several times, so as FP1, 2 & 3, i did this, i never had any issues at all.

If this phone fits your budget, go for it! The Note 4 is a fantastic device. You have 3GB RAM, built in 32GB, an SD Card slot, that will take a 128GB card and the AMOLED screen is superb! Don't forget you can also go from 1% battery to 100% within 10 seconds, by simply swapping it. Also this phone works with the GearVR headset! I upgraded to the LG V10, but I still have the Note 4. It's such a good phone. The S pen is also very useful for browsing full sites and cropping images. Hands down a hot deal for the price.

It's not major, but you need to out your password in after every reboot. The SD card I had which worked perfectly, keeps telling me it's been mounted and I lost all my personal playlists from Amazon music.
Also the grayscale option in power save has been removed for some unknown reason and is now only available in ultra.
I've also noticed battery life is affected too.

S pen air command gimmick thingy not working after update, but who cares about that. I've had mine for a year and a half and this new update should give your phone a longer lifespan, and with its removable battery there's no reason why your Note 4 should not last at least two more years if you look after it.

Most Android devices do that, even top ones like the Moto G, or even a Nexus. I think it is more of an Android problem than a specific device. Shame that you see it with top of the range devices, too.

I use the Note 4 LED Case with mine, and since upgrading to Marshmallow I'm not receiving all notifications and the auto-wake up functionality has been rather temperamental. Also, despite damage to the lens cover I still get some great photos. Great phone, I highly recommend it so Heat from me.

How is the fingerprint scanner on the N4? It had pretty bad press upon launch, has it improved since? Is it comparable to the Note 5 in terms of speed/recognition?

Its hard to interperate because i dont game on my phone, the 5 is made of gorilla glass front and back, so u end up sticking it 8n a case anyway. Its a snappy phone, but hand on heart, the differences between 4 & 5 for me are neglagable.
Note 5 wasnt uk released, mine is taiwan

I always wondered why the Note 5 didn't get the hype or crazy sales as Note 4? Was it becuase of the restrictions? How does the Note 5 fare specs wise? marginal?

Same here. I haven't really noticed any major differences but I am using Nova launcher so maybe that is why. I am curious as to what functionality is lost as I obviously didn't use that anyway.

I've just bought a Tech21 case for mine. I've had them on my S3 and Note 3 and they've been great. Pretty slim and offers really good protection - I was looking for a case for my S3 in CPW a few years ago and the lad there took the S4 with one of these on from behind the desk, held it by the corner and flicked it into the air and onto the solid floor! He said he'd been doing that about 4 times a day to show off the case! Now I'm not advocating that kind of stupidity to check with your own case, but it showed it doing it's job! Touch wood, I've never had issues with mine. Just bought an Anker battery from Amazon to replace the original battery (bought the phone used) and I'm happy with the battery life.
One thing I'm looking into but haven't sussed yet is seeing if there's a way to use Sammy's theme engine from the S6/7 etc to change the rather dull UI (and no, I don't mean just a different launcher).

Mainly just the gimmicky stuff that nobody really uses but gets marketed the hell out of I imagine
I've updated to MM on g901f which has the same spec as this apart from screen and I've not noticed anything missing personally.

I think you will be alright. I used to buy laptops from Dell outlet and never had any problems. Would buy from there again. Dont think it would be worse experience buying from Samsung outlet.
Bear in mind the size of the phone. If you go from G4 to Note 4 - you will see the difference. Think about bigger/deeper pockets

A great phone working really well on Marshmallow. I have it running pretty much all the stuff I had on my Note 3 (I refused to upgrade to Lollipop) with no issues - there's a couple of mods that aren't working on 6.0 but not many people are going to root these and install xposed framework, so I wouldnt worry. I'm getting about a day and a half out of one charge on moderate use and over 5 hours SOT.
