Got one of these for my daughter, stopped her fellow students from nicking her food. Has it in her room and she says its barely noticeable noise-wise. Good bit of kit, very lightweight.

I've tried two of these (the second one a replacement for the first) and both were fairly noisy with a lot of background hum and quite a "click" noise every few minutes when the compressor would switch on/off. Maybe worth bearing in mind if you want to put it in a quiet area?
I ended up getting a different brand called Klarstein, which was more expensive, but much quieter.
This is a great price though and probably as cheap as you'll ever get one.

I say run it in the summer for beers then store or sell it as you wont loose too much on it.
