It does quote batteries as only 'holding a charge', and they consider them as consumable. Last tablet battery I replaced took a degree in nuclear physics, a set of tools so small that they would have suited mice rather than men, and a battery that cost almost as much as a new tablet. Oh, and a youtube video.

Just something to bear in mind...

I can't work it out with what's given to us by Maplin. There is a Prestigio MultiPad Visconte 2 32GB on Amazon that states...

https://s32.postimg.org/e7rty5qwl/Screen_Shot_2016_06_24_at_09_07_36.png

Number of USB 2.0 Ports : 1

It also states (which I have seen on a few websites) that the 32GB model seems to sport 2GB Ram.

If it is a Visconte 2 then it's a Windows 8 tablet with 32gb storage with 2gb ram and micro usb and micro hdmi ports according to Tesco website. Not bad for 40 quid I suppose.

No you said Ireland which is not in the UK, Northern Ireland is totally separate, Ireland uses the Euro and is in the EU, we use Sterling and are in the UK.

It's scandalous how we get charged for delivery as it costs no more for parcels under a certain weight to be sent to Northern Ireland than it does to send them down the street in the UK, EBay sellers just like to milk it.
voyager123

24 Jun 16 #33
It's Ok just venting that we get shafted, I send a lot of parcels to England and it costs no more, might get in touch with Maplins myself and see if they deliver to my local store or if they'll send it free, I won't hold my breath though.

24 Jun 16 #35
Personally I haven't as yet as I won't pay the postage but I have 2 7" 32GB Windows one I bought off here at Christmas and they are really snappy with Win 10 but they are too small for my eyes so the other half and daughter use them.

I would go for the 32GB Windows one, I like Android on my phone but prefer windows on a tablet, especially if you hook up a mini keyboard and mouse they become a fully fledged PC.

Windows doesn't take up a huge amount of space and you can always pop a 64GB SD Card in it for an extra tenner.

I've done a little research. The two 10.1" 32GB Windows version are different.

The one described as grey is the Prestigio PMP-812E with Micro USB 2.0.
Manual & full specs here:

http://www.manualguru.com/prestigio/pmp-812e/users-manual/page-23

The one described as silver white is PMP810E with Micro USB 3.0. Also has stereo speakers & weighs less but has smaller battery & no rear camera.

All gone now. That was a waste of time.

24 Jun 16 #39
might be cheap but its too much to pay for one with 16gb memory. I have a 32gb windows tablet and I have to say that even that is starting to get a bit claustrophobic. I have 10gb of games on it and 2gb free, my documents, music, vids and all that are located on a sd card so the 10gb of games are one of the few things I could delete.
so windows + a few minor apps and programs are taking up about 19gb... 3gb more than the tablet in the deal even has!

Managed to refrain from buying. I was looking at selling my miix 3, which I use as a diagnostic unit for my car, for something a bit cheaper and which I can just leave in the boot but seeing as it's only maybe worth £70 or so after eBay fees and postage I may as well just sell the keyboard part and keep the miix 3. Hate the thought though of using a £150 piece of immaculate kit for this purpose though. Cheeky cash converters only offered me 50 quid for a mint miix3 with 1920 x 1200 resolution and then rang me to see if I was selling. Told them they were having a laugh.

Bought the multipad diamond 10.1 4g. Looked brand new when it came, however when plugged in it does not charge and the screen flashes white briefly. The flashing then continues every 2 seconds or so. I've tried holding the power button down for a long period both with and without a combination of the volume buttons but to no avail. My guess is the battery is foobarred. Any other suggestions before it goes back?

hi mate. i am getting a little closer with installing windows 10. you need to remove the language packs and disable hibernation, disable page file and remove office, this should get you to 11gb of free space then use a fast 16gb usb pen drive and select use a external storage device when you get the space error, but now the problem is that when the usb device is plugged into the tablet installing windows 10 the tablet dies due to the installation taking so long. obviously you can’t remove the usb as it needs it to install windows 10. i have ordered a "Micro USB Male To USB Female Host OTG Cable + USB Female Lead Phone Y Splitter" from ebay for £1.89 hopefully this will enable me to use the usb to install windows and give me an option to power the device at the same time. i will report back when i get the cable and try it out.

I upgraded to win 10 today. On my PC I created a win 10 bootable sd card from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10. I used a USB adapter that takes a micro SD card. Stuck the micro SD card it in the tablet then ran setup.exe from the sd card. When it said not enough space I selected the option to use the sd card and the rest ran like a dream - a slow dream - but it installed fine. I didn't bother to clean up the old C drive first and chose the option not to retain anything. I then had a brand new fresh win10 and it is running very well so far.

I used a 64GB sd card but you could probably use 32GB. I have left in in the tab and I have 8GB free space on the onboard C drive and 28.5GB left on the SD card.

Hope this helps

thanks dave. I'm just trying to update to windows 10 right now. when I switched the tablet on it asked if I wanted to update. it's now installing very slowly. let's see if it's eventually updates lol. if not I may have to try your procedure.
Smartguy1
29 Jun 16 1 #88
You should have about 16gb free space after you installed windows 10 on the C drive on these 32gb devices and not only 8gb. My guess is you still have the old windows 8 partition taking up valuable space on the drive. If you check in disk management it will show about 4.8gb if I remember right. The remaining space will be taken up by windows software download which can be deleted manually. Getting rid of the partition can be quite tedious as you can't just delete it. I got rid of mine by creating a bootable version of the windows software you downloaded and changing the bios to boot from usb. Some will say that you haven't got a fresh install of windows until you get rid of all of the old partitions. In windows 10 you should have just one partition of 450mb for recovery.

No - I took the micro SD cars out of the USB drive adapter and put it into the SD card slot on the tablet. I didn't use an OTG cable (and actually didn't get one with my tab).

Good luck.

30 Jun 16 #92
Thanks - I did a disk cleanup of C drive and now have 9.82GB remaining + 28.5GB remaining on my SD card. Nearly 40GB in total is plenty for what I am going to use the tablet for. Will remember what you have suggested in case I need more space in future.

PS I know that windows keeps a windows.old copy in case people want to revert back.

No probs. The PC experts on here reckon a full clean install is the way to go and to be honest I didn't really notice any difference on my miix 3 after clearing the old windows 8.1 partition. I just had more space. I suppose a diagnostic test will prove the theory and I actually thought on my t300 it performed better with the original operating system done by Asus compared with the one I downloaded from Microsoft. Luckily I did a back up of that one so may change it back.

I have done the upgrade as well, I tried using a 32GB microSD card in the SD slot on the tablet both holding the Windows 10 setup files and for the backup, that failed. Then I used the SD for just the Windows 10 setup files and a USB drive for the backup and it upgraded fine. I chose not to keep anything and when complete the USB drive was blank, not a worry, however the internal SD slot is no longer working. Is your internal SD working fine?

Hi There

My external SD card slot has also stopped working following the upgrade to Windows 10 via SD card. Have you found a possible fix or can anybody else help?

Thanks
nige182
22 Jul 16 #114
Nope, I haven't found any fix, I reset the Windows 10 install and that didn't help, couldn't find a driver but also didn't see any unknown devices in device manager. I had meant to try booting from a live USB and seeing if that can access it but never actually got round to it, will have to try something later this evening I think.

22 Jul 16 #115
ok mate let me know if you find a fix
nige182
23 Jul 16 #116
Booted Linux Mint from USB and the MicroSD works perfectly under Linux, so it is definitely an issue with Windows 10, it must be the driver as the problem but I haven't found a working driver yet.
