Saw these in my local Poundland (Ilford). Guessing they will be somewhat of a decent level of quality as they're RAC bulbs. Would think they're available nationwide too.

Having used cheap bulbs in the past I would recommend avoiding these unless you are buying them as a short term emergency bulb. The glass on the last cheap bulb I used actually melted, I was lucky it didn't cost me a new headlamp!

I don't think so. I bought Blaupunkt dab music system from Sainsburys which has very good sound quality and better than Sony and Phillips . Nowadays everything is made in China, even with a UK brand, so other than Chinese cosmetics and some processed food, I don't worry about made in China.

Just paid 4.99 for one of these so if it lasts 6 x longer than one of these fair enough but I doubt it, heat for me, same as others peugeot that goes through them in months

LoL
It was just a cheap and cheerful car I bought, just to take my gear over to Europe when I was working in Holland but ended up using it and getting a mileage allowance rather than taking a company vehicle.
Ended up making about £900 on it after running it for 2 years and selling it for £500.
They were dependable little cars, if a bit basic but the Mitsubishi mechanicals were the only reason I bought one.

My best friend's first car was this hilarious gold Proton mpi, I will never forget how much everyone used to laugh at it.
It got better when we found out that the car's Malaysian name was the 'Saga'.
It got even better than that when we found out the updated version he had was also known as the 'Saga Megavalve'. This was the early 90's model. It's almost as if the guy who named these Protons was tasked with thinking up a model name and came up with this while playing on a games console. Oooohhh....maybe Sonic?

It is 2 for a pound on the smaller bulbs. Not sure about the large bulbs. For emergency spares they are worth it. I find pot holes break more bulbs regardless of make.

No, in fact the quality is normally worse. Most Chinese manufactures try and build their own brand name, even if it's something we have never heard of. The poor quality manufacturers instead will "carousel" through Western brands on short term licence agreements so they don't have to worry about reputation. An example is Blaupunkt, a name which had a strong reputation and that Bosch "prostituted" to the Chinese when they were short of cash a few years ago.

I am sure that pattern is crap on them but my old man's Peugeot eats through these for fun. It doesn't matter what brand you put in there whether it's some expensive Osram or Philips or cheap Lucas ones it just destroys them within 6 months. So I guess he could buy a bunch of these and keep cycling through them

About 8 or 9 years ago I owned a Proton Persona that also ate bulbs - eventually when the car was 10 years old the original Proton battery gave out.
After replacing the battery - the bulbs never blew again.
Coincidence?

Nah...Cheap rubbish. Don't be fooled by the RAC branding. That's just a cash thing - they just pay to use the name - sort of commercial prostitution really.

Agree with the comment on commercial agreements for using the name but wouldn't it still be a reasonable assumption that these are better than the rest of the low end bulbs out there? How long does a bulb need to last to beat the average?

Pretty sure these are 2 for £1 on all of the RAC branded stuff, saw them in Scarborough last weekend.
