How would these paired with the above amp fare against the acoustic energy Aego m?

I suspect the Q Acoustics with a semi-decent amp would provide a fuller sound, but if you have a small space the Aegos might be fine. Check out the What Hi-Fi review of the Aegos, which wasn't that flattering.

What about their subwoofer, I have these and the center (in walnut) but my old sub is on the way out and keep looking at the sub but not sure if its any good..

A great price for these speakers - if only they had them in black gloss at the same price!

I was also considering using them in the living room instead of a soundbar. I take it id need a receiver such as this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Denon-PMA520AE-Integrated-Amplifier-Black/dp/B007Y3OBAQ/ref=sr_1_5?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1464866985&sr=8-5&keywords=av+receiver
