Having recently got a PS4 and wondering what to put on my wish list, I found that a bunch of the PS2 re-releases are discounted to half price. Had no idea this was a thing, and can't find any details online about it, so... surprise!
The deal URL is for Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (the first one from the list), but all the others are/will be in the first comment.
Sorry for the 5 minute delay - some had different prices, which threw me completely for a loop.

Rogue Galaxy - what a game that was.

Also Dark Chronicle - spent hours crafting and playing golf in that

Highlight of the lot - for me at least - is Rogue Galaxy, one of the most enjoyable RPGs I've ever played and an absolute steal at that price. Cannot recommend it enough if you're at all into the genre.
Appreciate all the hot votes! You guys are awesome.

each to their own but no idea why anyone would pay this much for games most people won't even play for free in this day and age.

I don't understand why people seem so keen to ditch and write off old games...
many of the classic games are more fun and have more depth than anything on the latest gen.
Games used to be about single player and longevity and fun...
now they are about money grab and online...

Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicle and Rogue Galaxy cost around £20 each for a physical copy (if not more), so if you're claiming these versions are too expensive...

29 Jun 16#19
I appreciate it has aged badly but I do love that game and will endure it for the trophies! I know what you mean though PS2 ports of PC games were usually awful and also didn't have the mods of PC. did you ever play the matrix mods for max Payne? so fun!

Not a great selection, and you can pick these up for less than a quid on the original format.

Most ps2 games have some value now... except fifa and the like.

I didn't see that comment when I posted but seriously, MOST PS2 games?! My local independent game shop sells MOST at 80p a pop, with a couple of rare JRPG's and even Shadow of the Colossus is £13 tops
highspire2k
29 Jun 16#23
but yes those particular titles are good value as far as finding a cheap PS2 version goes.

All games from US PSN is 60Hz

PS4 PS2 rereleases include some enhancements in visuals and features and also being digital for PS4 makes it even more convenient

The PS4 versions of these games do have trophies and you would be hard pressed to find copies for a quid as the older some get the rarer or more in demand they are as collectables.
These ones above are part of a bigger 'From Japan' sale they have on, which is why other PS2 games on PS4 like Twisted Metal aren't on sale. I'd get that if it was £4.

Dark Chronicle and Rogue Galaxy are 8 or 9 out of 10 titles, whether you like JRPG's or not.

I'd love to purchase some of these, but I can't help but feel this should be the standard price and the full price is extortionate.

Yeah that Matrix mod was excellent

29 Jun 16#33
Wow. A lot of total morons in here. Rogue Galaxy, Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle are amazing games and worth 4x the price that Sony are wanting for these.
You must be joking right? I will pay you £15 for each title and pick them up personally. That's a pretty good return on investment. Alas, completely and utterly impossible unless you're buying them from somebody else equally deluded as yourself...
This is a super white hot supernova deal.

Get Dark Chronicle instead!

As already stated, I appreciate not every game ages well, but these have and are still top draw titles today. They are bargains at these prices and the fact they have had a full HD overhaul and added trophy support, they're great titles to add to any RPG fans collection.
My only negative is finding the time to play them!

There was before a sale for it on Canada/US PSN think its gone now wait for the next sale they come pretty often nowadays.
There are some 60Hz PS2 Classics on EU PS4 store aswell like Kinetica as confirmed by a forum not sure if there's other ones like it too

Would Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicle and Rogue Galaxy be easy to get in to for someone who only really plays the action RPGs of Bethesda, BioWare and the like?
Only heard good things about them but not sure if they'd be for me.

29 Jun 161#39
Yes! They are favourites of mine. The "Dark" games can be quite addictive especially Chronicle as it has lots of side missions. They are very basic compared modern RPGs though.

Rogue Galaxy is an easy recommendation, as it has a relatively similar style of combat. Be warned that you'll probably end up spending a lot of time on the weapon upgrading/fusing system though! It can be pretty addictive.
Dark Cloud, I have a harder time recommending. It's good, but you spend a LOT of time in caves/dungeons, and there's the dreaded 'weapon degrading' system that means your swords will constantly be breaking, which is incredibly frustrating. There's also a 'thirst' meter that can be irritating, though not to the same degree.
Dark Chronicle ditched the weapon degrading and gave the 'dungeons' a lot more colour, so it's a lot easier to recommend. There's also a photo-taking mechanic, which grants useful inventions if you take pictures of certain objects, so that old Penny Arcade comic is pretty accurate:
