Its a good price but the 'service' is generally a rip off for what it is. So is Xbox Live really.

I think it's the exact opposite to be honest. You can get a 12 month sub for £33 that's £2.75 a month and 45p a game for 6 games a month. They've just had Table Top Racing a new release which I would of been happy to pay £14.99 for anyway. The offer they have at the moment though £40 for 15 months actually works out cheaper than this one at £2.66 a month.

Do these codes have expiry date? Or can you add it to your current ps plus membership? I still have 5 months but would using another one overwrite my current or will it just extend the membership?

You can stack subscriptions so will extend your existing membership expiry date

My payment got rejected too, turns out my bank doesn't like their payment system so after receiving an anti fraud text I managed to complete my purchase soon after. The site then had to confirm my identity but I got my code within an hour.
Thanks for this op, saved myself a few quid and was time to renew anyway. Heat added

It's weird how highly priced PSN is. XBL seems to go up and down in pricing here (can see 12-months go sub £20 on occasion).
On a side note, how trustworthy is electronic first?

Just in case anyone doesnt realise - you need to provide them with your home address and a telephone number before they will give you the code. They send the mail requesting this AFTER they have your money - its in the terms and conditions apparently but I still find this somewhat cheeky !

What are you comparing both services to by saying it isn't good value?
It allows you you to play online, provides cloud storage in case the consoles break and provides a minimum of 24 games each year depending on which console/s you have for a maximum of £3.33 a month.
Explain the part that's a rip off please?

I think the term "rip off" was used to mean "not worth it" since as you rightly point out, there's nothing you can compare both services to since they're closed platforms. You could compare them to one another. But I too no longer think PS+ is worth it. Cannot speak for Xbox Gold or whatever it's called since I've never had it. But PS+ games have been disappointing of late. I can back up save games on a cheap USB stick, and I still dislike the idea of having to pay to play online. I don't have to do this with my PS3 or PC. You can argue that servers are better or whatever, but I don't care. Of course if you really want to play online, you have no choice but to pay. Value can be both objective and subjective, with or without like for like comparisons.

Alot of people don't realise the costs involved to run an online service. E.g say a free game is 1GB and 10 million of the 40 million ps4 owners download it that's 10 million GB of data, that doesn't come free

this is why ps+ and xbox live are rip offs for most people:
I have bought my ps4 and ps + almost year ago with my first free game being rocket league, so far this is the only 'free' game i have enjoyed playing, i have 'purchased' and watched the gameplay trailers all free games every month and(including june 2016) either i would not have bought a single one of them on my own or i have purchased them a long time ago(not many but a few ps3 games), i wouldnt mind getting repeats, infact i would welcome the chance to play some in 1080p(god of war, i am alive) but no, i cant play these games on my ps4.....so they are worthless to me aswell....
so my total ps plus gain which i purchased at around £32 was rocket league+online games...
well i also have a gaming laptop and purchased the steam version of rocket league for £7.50 around september last year(so time isnt much of an issue) and gaming online is free anyway...
so i payed £30 on the ps4 and £7.50 on my laptop for the same thing....hence 'rip off'...and unfortunately if i want to play with my friends i will have to do so again in july...
p.s. the cloud save back up is nice, but can easily be done with a cheap flash drive and steam does this for free anyway...and the ps+ sales prices are small at best(compared with steams 75+ % off and steam key reselling sites, especially when the games rrp on psn does not change for a really long time)

40 million ps4 owners x 35 quid is worth more than 1GB each.

I'd disagree with your term 'most people'. The quality of games will improve I'm sure over the course of its life cycle but do people really think that these games are anything more than a bonus addition to their collection? I give all the plus game a chance, I play them and some I like, some I don't but for pittance (£32.99 a year in this case) it doesn't bother me whether I like them or not because they're giving me the opportunity to play a game I wouldn't otherwise look twice at. Currently playing 'The Swapper' a free PS4 game for plus, it's a great game and I'd never have bought it off my own back. The last game I completed before that was Aaru's Awakening, was decent to be fair. I do understand most would prefer what they class as triple AAA titles but some of these indie titles are far superior to some of the so called 'retail' games. Whilst this is my view I do respect that to some people £40 can seem like a lot of money and also taste in games is also subjective based on that individuals taste so I'm not trying to change people's thoughts, just justifying why Plus for me is great. I also have all 3 platforms that I still use so I get the 6 games each month but the Vita ones are the ones I find most disappointing

6 Jun 16#31
Exactly, what I said was for 1 game in 1 month. You get like 6 games for 12 months and the infrastructure to play games online for your money

The sense of arrogant entitlement is strong in this thread. Games don't develop themselves, console hardware isn't free or profitable and networks need maintenance/energy costs covered.
If PS+ was to stop tomorrow or if Sony went bust then you'd all have more to cry about. Gamers have to take an element if the blame, not just corporate greed.
DLC codes, DRM, Season Passes - Publisher's ways to combat piracy, everyone thinks games should be free or cheaper. High history of bootlegging and profits suffered, modern solution is after purchase add ons.
PS+, Gold - gamers hate laggy servers, happy to pay £30+ for fibre to be competitive. So why not charge to invest in better servers,up time, backups.

Its a given if there is a physical product. (Or at least the address part is). This is a code.. no physical product. I see no reason for them to require a telephone number for this however. Point being this is NOT made clear prior to purchase, and whilst it could be argued 'it says to in the Terms and Conditions' I suspect that the % of people that actually read those in their entirety is very small.
If I had know this before purchase I wouldn't have purchased - right or wrong thats how I roll. Just wanted to give people a heads up is all
