You do know it's a community site and the heat is the interpretation of a deal. So as someone who seems to think deals on Beats Headphones is ever a deal. I will take your view point with a ton of salt.
£50 for this watch isn't a bad shout, especially if anyone wants to dip their toe in wearable tech.
Great watch, I got one off ebay and it does everything that I need it to do. See who's calling, read texts (can reply with canned messages I store in the watch). Emails, WhatsApp, Facebook messages etc. Controlled my music. No fiddly touch screen. Easy to read display and a battery that last for days.

It's a great watch, but the kickstarter for version 2 of this is currently up for $99, (~£70) complete with heart rate monitoring, a bigger screen, and a microphone. Not really worth getting the old one unless there's a bigger discount.

But not ready for months yet, plus there's delivery and vat on top of the $99.

I also don't think it's worth the upgrade yet. New features are cool but u just dint think it's different enough from the old ones.

I bought one last time it was this price. Good value as a starter smart watch or just something not too over burdened with features. Recently upgraded myself so my wife could stop eyeing up this one!

I bought a Pebble Time on ebay for this price.
So this is not a good deal.

Exactly, and that is my opinion. Not a deal due to 2 year + old tech

Great deal but I would wait and go with Pebble 2.

Smart watches are an example of technology for no reason. There's no compelling reason to buy one, for fitness, for notifications, nope you just don't need it. Also currently what they do actually do is so poorly implemented and designed it negates any reason to ever get one. A smart watch adds no additional really useful functionality. If I'm cycling on my bike then I don't need to see whose texted me or emailed me, because I'm cycling. If I'm walking down the street on in work, I can actually take the phone from my pocket and look at the screen, amazing!
Smart watches are the answer to a problem that doesn't exist.

Depends on your job. I am a paint sprayer and Wear a spraysuit. So I f my phone rings I have to take off my belt and spraysuit to access my phone and then get paint on it. With the pebble I can see if I need to answer it or not and I can change my music without going through the above process.
I got mine second hand off ebay for £25.

Plus a lot of jobs don't allow you to answer mobiles and text during work. With this watch you can leave your phone on silent and see who's calling and answer if needed, eg your child's school, and you can reply to texts from the watch.

I have had one for about a year and it has some very solid qualities . Music control software works really well and stays active to control volume and tracks without looking at the watch. Sleep tracking works well and is perfect because you don't need to charge every night , it just needs about two hours charge time every five days . Some of the new apps require you to upgrade to 3.0 firmware which I have not done, the only frustration is that I can no longer answer my phone from my wrist . It has a solid Bluetooth connect warning if I leave my phone somewhere, Bluetooth connection is very solid . The power connection magnet is not very strong but if you put the rubber watchband underneath the watch is pretty easy to get the knack of it not dropping off when you take your hand away . I also attach it to my steering wheel using the strap and it makes an excellent Bluetooth remote control for my music while I'm driving. It is becoming a very necessary bit of kit , I respect how well it works , how nonflaky it is . On the downside it a shade bulky for small people and I wish they would start using touchscreen technology rather than the somewhat clunky buttons.

Surprised there are so many negative comments, its a good price and you can effectively get it for £25 if you've got clubcard vouchers to use up in the last ever clubcard boost.
My father got one because he often misses text messages on his phone, plus his phone screen is difficult to read in bright sunlight. He will also be able to use it to see who is calling before fishing his phone from under his waterproofs when he's out in his boat.
I helped him set it up, I thought it was a reasonably nice watch, but a tiny bit bulky, but as he pointed out to me its actually both thinner and noticeably lighter than his few year old Casio watch (Casio watches seem to have got a lot thicker and heavier in the years since I got mine in the 90's).
I've upgraded his to the new 3 firmware and put the yweather watch face which he liked (shame it doesn't show wind speed & direction) on it and compass.
Are there any must have apps owners on here would recommend?

I'm looking for a budget smart watch to allow me to track my runs and workouts. I notice this has native support for endomondo (the workout app i use) but would also like to know if there's any better smartwatch options available in a similar price range? From what I can tell only Android Wear smart watches provide the ability to start/stop workouts from the watch?
