Going back to this impact driver, it does compete well with units 4 times the price.

Purchased both saw and impact driver last year.. both have been used heavily while renovating house.. no issues both work well. Used saw recently for kitchen install,, filler panels MDF work for canopy,, great bit of kit for money..

Super, been after one for a week or so and at this price with three year warranty I don't see a risk. Cheers.

Dumb questions from a DIY novice...

Can this also be used as a regular cordless screwdriver for assembling flat pack furniture, or will this be too powerful? What other issues can I expect?

I bought one of these about 2-3 years ago but it had small battery and ran out of charge really quickly and then battery failed about the 3rd time I used it. However Lidl did refund with no problem.

Have they increased the battery size now on these? Think it was about 1.3Ah last time I got one.

Just so everyone is aware Parkside tools are made by Bosch,so they're quality tools.I bought a sliding mitre saw a few years back excellent bit of kit still going strong after years of use.would definitely recommend these power tools and im a tradesman who owns plenty of diffrent Dewalt,Makita,Bosch

Also did a little research before buying the sliding mitre saw.and from what I could gather from forums concerning Parkside tools was everyone who purchased was very happy with the products and lifespans lasted 10-15 year in somecases.hope this helps anyone thinking of purchasing this impact driver

Also interesting is the 2.6Ah version which seems to be £20 + £5P&P. I assume this would fit/work given the same battery designation (bar the capacity itself)?

Agreed, complete overkill (and not in a positive sense!) for flatpack furniture. TBH, I can't remember even using a drill/driver for most jobs like this, preferring a manual for these.

Normally I'd agree, as I love to keep things tidy, but to be honest, I've been keeping mine in the box and it's been absolutely fine. A case would be nice but bearing in mind the price point, I got over it more quickly than I might have otherwise!

Ah right most of the stuff I read before said alot of french forums where saying bosch made and distributed them.like you say though very good quality,I always look out for them when they come on offer in lidl.if I didn't already have 4 impact drills id definitely purchase this

just picked one up and it says that the 1.5ah battery and 2.6ah are interchangeable.

The batteries are stickered with model number PAP-18-A1 (or PAP-18-1.5-A1) which tallies up with what ebay auctions say. According to the box the batteries are compatible with this impact driver (PDSSA-18-A1), an angle grinder (PWSA-18-A1) and a sabre saw (PSSA-18-A1).

I wondered about compatibility with other parkside cordless tools and according to http://www.lidl.de/de/parkside-akku-schlagbohrschrauber-psbsa-18-li-b2/p214156 and google translate, 'PAP 18 A1 battery series: Three units - three compatible batteries', but I wonder if this is a mistake because it then goes to talk about three devices ending in B2.

Anyone got a PBSA-18-A1 or PBSA-18-B2 and one of these PAP-18-A1 batteries that could confirm whether they're compatible? Not that Lidl are selling these, but I guess they may in the future, so it would be nice to know.

Oh the batteries also mention grizzly-service.eu, suggesting the batteries at least are made by Grizzly Tools.

These have flown off the shelves in two stores in brum!

They were sold out in the first store I tried( Risca south wales), a workman who was on site there said they all sold first thing this morning. I picked up the track saw while I was there and managed to get the driver from the Ystrad Mynych store where they had around 8 still in stock at the time.

they only had 4 in my local and i got one of them.
