With full 4K compatibility and a more powerful operating system, the Panasonic TX55CX680B has significantly raised its game.
4K Ultra HD TV
Boasting an UHD (Ultra High Definition) 4K screen resolution, the Panasonic TX55CX680B demonstrates astonishing levels of detail. This resolution is four times greater than the more conventional 1920 x 1080 Full HD TVs and it's a difference you'll really notice. This CX680 model is also compatible with the format required for streaming Netflix 4K, for 4K entertainment straight away.
Local dimming for superb realism
In addition to 4K, the Panasonic TX55CX680B offers local dimming for even greater picture precision. This works with all sources and screen resolutions, ensuring you get the most natural picture possible. Local Dimming reduces backlighting behind dark areas of the image, giving inky blacks contrasting strongly with brighter areas, for outstanding realism.

"Ultra HD Premium" seems to be a standard which has to be followed by TVs that claim HDR ? This TV jus most of 4K tvs does say Ultra HD but not have "Ultra HD Premium" logo ... not sure how much important this is ..any thoughts folks ?

The CX680 does not support HDR, that feature is far more common on this year's models.

Excellent TV, I know of 3 people with them. If you look at the AVForums review not only does it get a glowing review but tells you the preset information to get as close to calibrated as possible.

7 Jun 16#16
thinking of getting one myself , is this 55ms input lag and Energy rating -"B" are of any concern ?
Heat for the price, but from what I've read you should only be buying tvs with HDR.

I bought this TV from Very a little while ago for £640 and it is a great TV.
I have my amp plugged into HDMI2 and then my PC, HDTV, sat box, wii etc plugged into the amp.
The TV then switches Gaming mode automatically switches on for PS4 via HDMI and off when watching a movie etc.
The apps via smart menu are good, mainly 4k amazon prime (be warned, you need around 20mb connection to get the decent resolution or amazon lower you to 1048p or HD.... etc.)
Enter them for 1 source and then copy to all sources. Then you can tweak each source later without having to enter the whole lot on each source.

Cracking TV for the price! Don't let the others put you off, it's a lot of TV for not a lot of money. Who cares about energy consumption anyways? And unless you are an MLG pro, 55ms lag should not bother you(measured as 39 by av forums dudes).

All Vestel Models are Numbered 300 and 400 e.g. CX400 and CR430 (You have been Warned!)
Any Models Above i.e. 500, 600, 650 (CX680), 700, 750, 802, 902 are Genuine Panasonic.
From what I hear Panasonic have abandoned All Vestel product for their 2016 DX Range.... Hurrah!!

I have heard they are stopping making screens from September this year so from then on your Panasonic TV will have a Chinese or Sharp screen / panel in it ! Worth a thought.

Panasonic Remain the Only Brand to Produce THX Certified and Backlit Screens, rather than vastly inferior "Bottom-Edge Lit" screens touted by another leading brand
Of course, the Panel is only part of the whole story. It's a bit like suggesting the Citroen C1, Peugot 108 and Toyota Aygo are the same? Indeed they are Not, 2 of them have Different Engines and therefore the Economy and Performance may vary.... Curiously it's the Japanese Variant which appears to be the Most Reliable... Happy Coincidence ..!?

Bit to in depth for me pal to be honest. Basically when this one packs up in 10 years time. I'll remember it being on the news that Panasonic stopped making all panels in September 2016 because they were making a loss. The 680 is a great TV for the money thou. Future Panasonic ?? will the panel last ??

Agreed, the 55CX680 is a Great TV for the Money and it's one of only a Few Actual "Back-Lit" Panels in the UK/Europe. When 'Back-Light' specification is quoted in respect to other Brands it's almost misleading because 90% of TV's are "Edge-Lit" or "Side-Lit" ...Any Anorak worthy of His Blu Ray Collection will tell You a "Back-Lit" is Far Superior to an "Edge-Lit".
A TV's Reliability and Performance extends much further than where the Panel is sourced from; That is to suggest/question that any number of Laptops or Tablets with the same Grade of 1920 x 1080 IPS Panel will All have the same Build-Quality, life-span and Performance Characteristics...
Of Course they do Not, The Variables include; RAM, Processor, Power Supply, OS, Graphic Card etc etc. There are probably as Many Laptops as TV's in the European Market similarly priced from £300 to £2000.
It's a well known fact that Apple Products are Manufactured/Assembled in a Well known Country's Battalion of Sweat Shops, does it make an iPhone 6s any less desirable or reliable than a popular Korean Android Smartphone??
I'm sure whichever Smart-Device You, I or any one of us bought most recently, the Source of the Panel was Not the Primary Concern/Top of the list. I imagine whether it was "Super AMOLED", "Retina Display", "4K Video/20 Mega-Pixel Camera", "Internal Storage/Memory Size", "Fingerprint Reader", "Quad-Core Processor" would almost certainly be the Factors which swayed Your Final Decision... rather than who made the panel.
Why Not ask 10 Random people why they chose their Smart-Phone, do you really imagine someone will state "Country of Origin/Panel Manufacturer"..??
