CNC Net is a great resource for patching the older C&C games (up to Red Alert 2) plus Dune 2000 to work online. The first three games (C&C, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun) have all been released as freeware so the installers will give you the option of patching the Origin release or a CD version or can just download the whole game for you. You have the option of downloading the multiplayer component separately so there's no need to get the single player campaigns if you just want to play online. For Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge you'll need the games already installed (from Origin or CD) as they're not freeware.
These versions of the older games are actually kind of essential even if you own the Origin versions as EA don't seem to care about patching these games to work on newer versions of Windows so these patched versions include fixes for any problems you may encounter.
The more recent games (Generals, C&C3, Red Alert 3) used to use GameSpy, which was shut down in May 2014. Fortunately the Revora Network stepped up to provide new multiplayer support using a launcher over at CNC Online

There is an Open Source version at http://www.openra.net/ that you can grab for free - I believe it's online multiplayer, but it has been a while since I played this. Worked flawlessly for me, cross platform too.

Will these work with windows 10?

I don't have Windows10 but OpenRA certainly appears to be able to.
"This means that OpenRA is not restricted by the technical limitations of the original closed-source games: it includes native support for modern operating systems and screen resolutions (including Windows 10, Mac OS X, and most Linux distros) without relying on emulation or binary hacks, and features integrated online multiplayer."
It certainly also has LAN play, as I played my son many times with a previous version.

I had the Deluxe C&C Generals and Zero Hour DVD version which wouldn't work on Windows 10 due to the copy protection/DRM being no longer supported. Bought this and it these pair of games work fine through Origin on Windows 10. Haven't tested others.

I too whole-heartedly recommend OpenRA. You can play Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, Dune 2000 and Tiberian Sun will be along soon. OpenRA is constantly being developed (it's even better than the originals) and it is cross platform: whether on Windows, Mac, or any flavour of Linux, it will be a pain-free install. Also, it's FREE! Here is the link: http://www.openra.net/
You can play by yourself, online with people from around the world, or over LAN.
Tiberian Dawn is where the real fight is at - I'm playing that right now!
