I fear todays 8 year olds would find Monkey Island boring and frustrating. Sadly they seem to much prefer shooting virtual prostitutes in GTA then enjoying the craftsmanship of LucasArts' classics.

They are the TellTale Games take on the franchise. Too many words, too little puzzles tbh. They are not bad though for the price.

Thanks for pointing to the fact that Grim Fandango was on offer as well. I'd lost my original CD's years ago and this was the one LucasArts P&C game I never got around to finishing (until now!)

Probably a bit too difficult for an 8 year old, I had a pretty hard time at 13 or so when I first played the series, but to be fair I wasn't fluent in English yet.

You need to be able to run the Steam software, you don't get an independent download. Even if you can run it independently, it will be a Windows executable.

Hands down some of the best games ever made! Loved playing these on the Amiga then then PC. Also leasure suit Larry and Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacis.
Someone needs to bring back the point and click adventures, hours worth of game play that gets you thinking with some good old tongue in cheek slap stick humour.
How I miss the LucasFilm / LucasArts days of these adventures being released. These were my favourite games of all time (especially MI2). Loved these in my youth, remember my Mum liking these too and she's not the computer-game type! Still play them yearly (or so) now. Great re-makes with the option to flick between the original/new versions. MI3 also great. ScummVM - get it!

I know this is really thick, however I'm still going to embarrass myself and ask, do you need to have a PC or a laptop to play this on or can it be played on a tablet? My dad and I used to play this when I was a little younger and would love to get it for him but he'd probably only play it if it was on his tablet? Sorry for being such a bonehead x

Waiting for the GOG release of that - no other source is worth bothering with as Gog.com guarantee your game will run and they also do something very magical to the games they sell you that does get even the most archaic of games running on Windows 7.
