Just as an FYI, the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) for my tech habit is much better now than it was before the harmony. She knows all she has to do is press the "Watch TV" button to watch the TV... Before the harmony I used to get 2/3 calls per day at work from her asking how to put a film on for the kids or what needed to be on to watch loose women etc. Culminating in threats of violence against my electricals or even divorce!
It is expensive, but it is worth it!

I've had various Logitech remotes and this one is the best I've had by far. One reason is the hub that comes with it.
The hub sends out IR signals, not the remote so you don't have to point the remote at your gear while it turns stuff on/off. Also comes with IR blasters for stuff in cupboards. Recommended and heat given.

I was advised to get one of these by a super user who swears by it, I just missed the deal in the near year and set up a camel watch. Little did I know it would miss the lightning deal. Thanks again HUKD for providing!! Thanks to Mr No.

I ordered on the last lightening deal. Price is £84.99 for non-prime also if you adjust the postage to supers supersaver

Echo the comments above, this is a fantastic product. Highly recommended if you have multiple devices connected.

I've had mine for a while now and it's a great remote. I've also got the new Elite Pro which does very little extra for the huge difference in cost (basis this deal)

its not just a tv remote though is it...

It's not a TV remote though, it's an "everything" remote...if you can control it by IR or in some cases by Bluetooth, then this will work (and learn new commands if your kit isn't on the Logitech database).

*currently* as long as you have infrared on your pc it can... That's how I use it.
I say currently, because there's talk of being able to control using bluetooth (which the hub supports) and emulating mouse and keyboard - but it's not available yet.

only downside to these is where the transport buttons sit - they're at the top, making them a little awkward to get to. i went with the smart hub and the basic remote as the transport buttons were in a better location - and it's a fantastic bit of kit.
there's a newer variant of this remote available now where the transport buttons are at the bottom, so it's worth looking at the better model if that sort of thing bugs you and you still want the screen.
but that smart hub... it's awesome. if mine ever died, i'd get a new one immediately.

I bought this and it's awesome. I've had harmony remotes before, but the BT tech on this is what you need. Forget CEC, forget IR dongles, this controls my PS3 and FireTV perfectly, it can even control the Wii U, it powers it of and can EVEN pilot the finger (like the left stick on the pad) using the touch screen (although it's hardly super smooth).
By default, the remote talks to the hub via RF (I think, maybe BT) and the hub sends all BT and IR commands to the devices. I haven't bother with the IR extenders, and just put the hub at the side of the room and so far so good. But if you want to bury the hub in a cupboard or out of site, then you can set it so that IR signals comes out of the actual remote (like a normal remote), and only BT stuff comes out of the hub. Hope this helps anyone. The console logos and tv channel logos look wicked on the touch screen too.
£85 is a steal for this.

Got a harmony 700 remote on Gumtree a couple years ago. No need to update to anything else really.
I'd never go back to standard controls.

It's back on! Just purchased at £84.99. However, upon viewing my order subsequently, it did show a -£30.07 promotion, and it is now listed back at £115.06. Bizarre.
Worth a check though.

Great comment - totally agree. Even my wife who hates 'gadgets' loves the 700. Can understand some being perplexed why you'd spend so much on a remote but once you use it, it's worth it.

Doh, looks like I have been sent a duff one :disappointed: Fully charged, connected to laptop, used the software, it did some firmware updates. But, the screen constantly just shows what looks like a laptop, with an arrow pointing top left. None of the keys do anything. Tried factory reset by Menu/Off, that did something, but it still doesn't work, the display never changes, except to go off.
Grrrr.

Update to my problem, after re-updating the firmware, it works now. However, I had to press Alt-F9 in the desktop software to force the update, as it was already on the latest firmware.
After just a short time, this is the dogs doodahs. Not providing full access to my Samsung soundbar functionalities yet, but, I'll sort that.
