Do you get free unlimited returns/exchanges when the build quality issues cause your brain to fart massively after paying nearly 400 quid for a botch job phone?

This is not a botch job phone, the screen is 2560x1440, crazy good, it has 4GB of Snapdragon 820 RAM, thats double most phones and the fastest Snapdragon out there, it has 3.75Ghz of CPU power, more than a small laptop, with the latest Adreno graphics, an SD slot of up to 256GB with 32GB storage already, a 16MP and 8MP camera with laser auto focus and beauty selfie mode, superfast Bluetooth 4.2 and USB C 3.0, and a really efficient battery, plus a removable cover and several really cool gadgets.
Do your homework, specs wise this phone pretty much beats all others atm.
You wanna botch job overpriced phone? Go pay £100 to have a silver Apple on the back of it, or buy an S7 'COS ITS GLASS AND THATS COOL'

Those specs are fantastic but he was talking about build quality and I am a bit concerned too. The detachable bottom often has a gap which is visible and my main concern is fine dust getting into the phone that way.

I love(d) the G4 but the experience of having a phone die just after 6months of purchase because of a fault that LG knew about for a while but did nothing and often times denied existed is just too much of a concern to bear. The question now remains for me what if they do the same wit the G5.
Which is sad as I realllllly like the G4 and LG for that matter. :disappointed:

Ive had a G4 for quite a while now and had no issues. Im really suprised to hear about this mobo problem with them although i see LG have owned up and will repair the phone if you get the boot loop problem.
I must say the G4 is an awesome phone and having just looked around for a new phone for the Mrs i couldnt see anything that beats the G4 bang for buck so ive bought her one. It has come with a serial No. starting 51xxxxx so i think it should be fine.
Mine starts with 506xxx but like i said its worked great since ive had it from October. Just an awesome phone.

I'm a massive OnePlus fan (own 2 and OPX ) but the camera on this is probably a fair bit better, as is the screen. I'd still prefer a OP3 due to build quality as near stock android but the G5 is a true flagship. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy the OP3 instead but it doesn't have the same specs overall.

Me too, upgrade due in September for me - only thing slightly off putting is that I'm not a fan of 'edge' phones as it seems to be gimmicky. But after having a note 4 can't go to a smaller screen.

I wouldn't personally get another LG after owning a G3. Battery failed after a year (well known issue with this model), still waiting on an Android M release and with so many new models coming out the depreciation is horrific. Have had to factory reset several times to fix performance issues and tbh I doubt I'll get more than 2 years out of the hardware before something else packs up. Good specs but the build quality and long term support just aren't there, which will be reflected in the resale value.

The g5 has 6gb ram and a 1080p screen?

No, G5 has 1440p screen and 4GB RAM, but overall specs are very similar.

Before the issue I was oblivious to any faults with the phone and simply loved it (still do). Since the issue though I found that it seems to be so widespread that I cannot believe that LG didn't know about it before launching. XDA and other forums seem to have so many people that have experienced the fault. LG did collect and repair the phone which took just over 2 weeks door to door.
Because of this, I am simply wary of this phone. Especially as its a new modular form factor.

I have a G5. great phone. However the fingerprint sensor suddenly stopped working and all the fingerprint sensor settings disappeared. I rebooted the phone (not factory reset) and it was fine again. Hopefully just a little glitch.

I never said it hadn't been released on the G3, I said I was still waiting for it. Whilst LG announced the update late last year, it still has yet to come to many countries or carriers, including my UK Vodafone handset. I know because I personally own it.

I have one plus 2, but I would not buy the one plus three due to not having expandable storage(read micro sd slot). Also having USB 3.1 with C port / fast wireless charging /waterproof will be great instead of only USB 2.0 only now. My oneplus 2 upgraded to marshmallow only last week so not happy about speed of updates either.

Quoting the CPU speed is entirely irrelevant as you're comparing entirely different CPU architectures.
3.75GHz is more than a small laptop? Why small? What does small have to do with it. Do large laptops not have low powered CPUs? On what basis are you comparing the CPU in a phone to a CPU in a laptop and which exact architectures are you comparing and where's the comparative figures?
What I'm obviously getting at is "it has 3.75Ghz of CPU power, more than a small laptop" is an entirely meaningless and misleading statement.
Sorry if I seem like an assh*lo*, but your comment means nothing and isn't useful information. It's as useful as saying a 3.5Litre engine in a truck is more than a Formula 1 car, it's a worthless statement, it gives no useful information.

I got my same LG G3 from when it came out practically, fantastic phone, I prefer it to the G4 personally
You have literally picked one thing I have said and completely disregarded the fact that everything else I said also shows that this is, for sure, not a botch job phone
My mum has a gold G5, and the build quality is excellent, it feels premium, its a large handset but its light and slim, that metal body finish gives it a rlly nice feel, I think LG made a mistake in previous LG phones using plastic but now the metal is so prettyyyyy...
also the removable bottom bit is dust resistant, just like the samsung s7 is water/dust proof despite having little holes and a charging space. etc... as phones do, so don't worry about dust getting in, its a flagship phone it was designed well
Hey nothing wrong with a cheeky pic xD

It's not LG I'm waiting on, it's Vodafone. Like many carriers, they customise the OS which means I have to wait for their version of MM to be released if I want an 'official' build. My issue isn't that LG are slow to release upgraded versions of Android, it's that they've released both the G4 and G5 in the ~18 months since I got my G3, so I wonder whether Vodafone will even bother updating the OS for a phone which is already 2 phones behind the current one. Maybe I was just unlucky and bought at the wrong time, but this and the other issues have put me off getting another LG.

16 Jun 16#41
Well, no, cos LG G3s across the world are getting Android 6 MM, I've had MM almost since it came out, so there is literally no reason you wouldn't either, contact Vodafone, and next time get a better carrier ^^

Every review I've read suggests the P9's OS is appalling, it maybe a better built phone but apparently not one you'll ever enjoy using day to day.
Badongkadong
17 Jun 16#43
Then you can judge LG for that because for the unbranded phones in UK it was released well over a month or two ago. Your network has withheld the update because they don't give two craps about you; please complain to vodafone as LG, unlike Apple, don't have the clout to force networks to push updates.
Plenty of recorded issues with the build quality of the G5. Just search G5 build quality and there's many reviews and user complaints on forums about it. Sub £300 it is worth considering but not a penny over in my opinion when you can get yourself a Huawei P9 for the same price.
Avoid and wait for the G6 when hopefully they will have perfected the modular approach.

I've never had a phone go wrong on me until I got the boot loop problem with the G4. Repaired under warranty. Collected by DPD and back within 10 days. I bought an Asus 4g 5.5" from |Gearbest for £95 as I thought I was in for a long wait and I really enjoyed that and kept using it even after I got the G4 back. Now I'm back on the G4 and enjoying it. I like the G5 but don't need to constantly upgrade. I'm used to the 5.5" display now and I think I'll notice the slightly smaller screen on the G5. Not keen on the look of the G5 really but if the G4 bootloops again under warranty I'll see if I can blag a G5.

As with most android phones, if you don't like the OS just change it, or use a launcher.
What you can't change is the build quality and the P9 is far superior to the G5 in this respect.
