I have asked this before but seems a grey area Will this be a better picture in SD than my SD pic on my Samsung PS51D8000 51'' Plasma
Don't have HD package

I'd imagine SD will look worse on this.
If you have no intention of playing anything in 4K, Id stick to your plasma.

I have an older LG tv and it upscales SD content quite well. Cant speak to this one though, but there is no way it would look worse.

Can JL price match? Would be a bargain for that with discount including 5 year guarantee

Out of the box, SD on this set is shocking. However, put the picture mode in Expert 1 and turn off every processing setting you can find. Sharpness needs to be 0, tru motion off, you get the drift. This will result in a clean picture that is in plasma ball park. Then start fiddling with a setting called super resolution. I set this to high and all the detail came back. As a plasma owner myself, I'm not going to lie and say its better than plasma. What I will say however, is that with my settings, I managed to get within 90% of plasma quality in SD. I never thought I'd be saying that!
My TV went back as the 3D was a bit hit and miss. The HDD recording on HD channels also breaks up when you play something back. LG are not going to address this issue.
Doesn't make it cold just because it doesn't have HDR.
That's no different from me voting cold, bacause it doesn't have 17 HDMI ports.

If these guys don't offer 5 year warranty included, JL are unlikely to price match. I work there and we get quite a few customers ask about it.

Decent TV tbh, pretty much LG's flagship LED set.

How do you know issues won't get sorted, my 2014 UB850 is still receiving firmware updates on a regular basis!
Only downside for me with this model is still no official Plex app available for WebOS2

I own this TV and can confirm that it does have HDR even though it's not stated. I've played HDR content both from my HDD and Amazon Prime. As soon as HDR content is recognised, a notification displays "HDR On" in the top left of the screen. Very happy with this TV!
It's like XBMC for running media on your TV from your PC or remote sources.without the need for an external box connected.

Is there a comparable 65" (or greater) deal. I mean with a price that is scaled obviously.

Not at the moment, webOS 1.5 TVs have it but later don't. You can get 3rd party apps but not official. I would read up on Plex 1st tho, it isn't totally free like XBMC to use.

good tv. but the prices are fantasy.
this has been bumbling around this price from different retailers for 5 months or so.
it hadn't been north of 1k for over half a year.

If you look on AV forums owners thread, LG even refuse to accept there is a problem. How can LG sort out a problem that doesn't exist? Lets face it, they've had a year to sort out this issue now and haven't so the likelihood is remote.

I have a 10 year old LG Plasma and keep going to buy another TV ............. trouble is, the SD image quality of these 4K or HD TV's is absolutely terrible - I mean god damned awful compared to my plasma .......... and it makes me sad that it stops me buying as I have money burning a hole in my pocket for another TV! :disappointed:
