It's a hybrid hard drive, not a proper ssd. You do not install anything directly on to the 8gb, it's only there to speed up access to the hard drive

Pay the extra £70 for a Skylake i7 and R7 M360 graphics card.

Yes the spec is great, but apparently it's balanced in terms of value and quality. The advantages speak for themselves, but the disadvantages are poor screen viewing angles, slow SSHD, keyboard flexing and, most of all, abysmally poor battery life.

Reviews online have just put me off buying one :disappointed:

Dell, Msi, Medion, and Asus know how to make laptops. They are a bit more expensive but worth it in the long run.
I woudnt bother buying any other brand and they are just poor quality epically Lenovo.

Is there any laptops which are actually not going to end up in the bin or a nightmare? I bought an expensive years ago which lasted 10 years. At the minute the motherboards always go resulting in 2 years max

DON'T BUY IT.
I have had one of these since they first came out. Not a good experience.
The HDMI, and USB sockets were very dodgy - loose connections. I can get a response by wiggling the plugs but that often does not last long. The original HDMI socket didn't work at all.
I complained to Lenovo within their guarantee period and was told that I must have caused all of the damage myself and would have to pay for repairs. Eventually they agreed to do a repair. Said repair work was appalling. Graphics driver doesn't allow the brightness to be controlled. (Try Goggling that.)
There are several attempts at fixes on the internet but none of them have worked for me. The image quality is poor regardless of the lack of control.

windows blue screen of death comes every 3 hours
battery life is only 1 hour
network cars cut out
laptops unresponds every day
files are removed from my computer for no reason

And john lewis have the nerve to say to me to pay for shipping to lenovo :neutral_face:

Cannot comment on laptop, but bought the Lenovo Thinkserver on here earlier this year. Quality of the build is fantastic. Almost too good for a PC, which will probably be changed in 3 to 4 years time. Bought from ServersPlus who were excellent. Answered my query immediately, and I could understand the person on the other end of the phone!

Lenovo is very reliable. The issue you have to remember this is towards the lower end of the range. You get what you pay for if it's quality you want.

The hybrid drives are... ok, it covers a bit of ground. You're... correct on it's use but... not completely correct. The point of it is it will automatically work out what the 8GB of most accessed stuff you use is, these will end up cached on the 8GB SSD part. It doesn't need to hold all of windows to get the speed boost as not everything in windows is needed to boot to desktop, stuff that's used every boot will be the "most used" files quite quickly (along with start stuff and programs you regularly run). You'll see the "improved speed of access/use" you get from an SSD for the first bit of stuff you use regularly, it won't help with everything though :smiley:

Yes, its an SSHD. I've had an SSHD fail on me but the replacement has been going great for the last year.

For the specs, I think this is HOT. :confused:

Looks pretty good. I wonder though is 8GB enough to hold windows 10 which is what I assume the SSD is for? I snuggled with a 32GB lenovo until I upgraded to an larger SSD.

Decent deal and a three year warranty full HD -------------------- Heat.

Seems decent with FHD and SSD. Anyone got one?
