Excellent - much easier to open. Pretty much all wine is sold as screw cap in NZ and Australian supermarkets where cork/plastic seals as seen as being outdated.

Dont order through Asda Direct as it says OOS, go to Asda Grocery website (the one I linked).
Can always look in store if you are lucky!

Well the judges say..... "an excellent freshness" and a finish that was "full of energy". praising the wine for flavours of "freshly crushed black fruit, creamy vanilla yoghurt and pepper spice" and noting its good value.
Not a hint of boil in the bag Shepherds Pie (thank you The Fast Show for that one).

What do Asda do if they don't have stock with grocery orders?
Do they;
Replace with a similar product and pricematch like Tesco
Replace with a similar and charge you extra like Sainsbury's
Turn up empty handed

Hi Larry,
When you order off the ASDA website there should be an option to chose whether you would like a substitute item if yours is out of stock. Generally they will find the closest relating product, and they will give it to you for the original product price if this is lower than the new 'alternative' product.
However, an alternative would be to call your local ASDA store to see if they have this item in stock. I'm sure one of our helpful ASDA colleagues would be more than happy to help.
Hope this helps

Ordered 12 for pick up today in Edinburgh but only got 4 so can't complain (substitute offered for the other 8 was La Moneda Reserva Merlot 2015 so I kept a couple to give that a try too - same price). I did visit the wine aisle but the shelf was empty so good luck if you're still looking or waiting on a delivery. Not opened a bottle yet but this will get top spot on my wine rack if it's really that good.

Good find, will look in my local store tomorrow, think ive had this before and its a good wine for price, but would argue best for under £15 though. Another good wine for its money is aldi's grapevine merlot, around £3.20. Iv'e had dearer wines not as good. And if you dont like it you can use it as cooking wine. Think it won a silver or bronze award a couple of years back in a wine magazine.

Enjoying a wee dram at the mo. I'm no wine connoisseur, and I drink red about as often as England win a game in a major football tournament, but it tastes good to me.

Bought the last case in Asda Bishopbriggs. The shelf was emptied but I spotted the case high up on a shelf above the wines. Drank a few glasses and have to say it's very good! Going to go and try and get some more for the wine rack. At that price for a world class wine, it's time to stock up if you can get it!

Ordered delivery last night. Got a phone call this morning saying they couldn't deliver tonight because of van problems. Reminds you of Bob the builder.
Just got delivery but with a replacement wine as if they couldn't have mentioned it when they phoned. Refused the wine, some £3.50 plonk. My first and last delivery from Asda
Will take 3-4 days for refund.

BTW... there is something fishy about this deal.
Too many newspapers reported on this and it was on the TV this morning (Sky news I think)... there was obviously some money exchanged between ASDA & the news 'fixers'... so I'm not totally convinced this will be that nice just yet.

Let's be clear-this wine has not been voted the best red wine in the world. It has won the Decanter International Trophy for a red wine made from a single variety (i.e not a blend of different grapes) under £15.Asda also has the Tagus Creek Shiraz/Trincadeira from Portugal that won the International red blend under £15 two years ago but didn't seem to receive the same hype-only £4.25.

Ordered some for a significant birthday party but they rang me 1/2 hour after the delivery was due to arrive to say it was oos - despite an earlier email telling me it was picked and on its way.
Ah well, it is ASDA after all. No surprises there.

And?
Is that to say you assume it's somehow inferior by not having a cork? You are woefully misinformed, if so.

never again ASSDA... I had collection in the morning at Leyton store. At Click & Collect point I was told it is out of stock!!! They did not bother to contact me earlier that could have saved my time.

Exactly the same thing happened to my at my local store. They must have had a few Click & Collect orders for it as the guy said to be asked me if it was for the wine without evening looking at my order. Complete noobs!

Ordered online thinking I was ordering from the wine shop and asked to collect. Apparently it wasn't the wine shop, it was Asda Groceries. This means that they collected it off the shelf when I turned up instead of collecting it then and setting it aside. Which meant that, although there was some in stock when I ordered, there was none when I arrived to collect the next day. Of course, as it was on special and it had just been announced that it had won an award. Which is why I had gone to the effort to order it then while I had a chance! I had not been notified that they had run out of stock despite my leaving both a home phone and mobile phone number. Wasted journey through very heavy traffic on a difficult weekend for me. And now I can't find it anywhere and when/if it does come back in stock it will no longer be on special and the price will likely have even gone up. Although the young man was very apologetic I am really not pleased with Asda right now.
