I've seen worse, but yeah I prefer slim, sleek look of AKG for instance, but for this price the sound it delivers is great

I find it surprising as they are over the ear kind. I have worn them for about 6 hours couple of days back with no complaint. They don't actually touch my ears.

If you're wondering what the diff. is between these and the "R" model (MR55X) which is selling for £5 less than its M55X counterpart on Amazon, but is rated a little worse there (half a star less), I found this: http://av.jvc.com/product.jsp?pathId=211
You can see the RRP for the R is actually higher by 10 USD, and I see it's because it's the iPhone/Android remote control button & mic version, yet on Amazon, as I said, it's topsy-turvy, the mobile version is priced lower than this non-mobile control M55X (though still £2 more than this fair deal): £19.99 vs £25 - just thought I'd mention it for peeps who wanted the mobile control for £2 more.
Lowest these have ever been on Amazon was £23.

I like the whole Xtreme xplosive range. My son and i have had a few headsets between us, and sound has been really good with a very nice base. Hard to fault them for the price. Managed to get the mispriced ones at Argos a couple of weeks ago for 9.99, and they have been great.

I have had these, it's a good choice if you're into bass heavy music. I personally found the bass to be overwhelming, and the cups to be uncomfortable to wear after more than 20mins.

On ear headphones.
Some people get on with them, some don't. I find them all uncomfortable. And given that all on-ear 'phones sit on the ear (hence the name) and push them against your head, I can't understand how anyone finds them comfortable!
Over-ear every time for me. Using a set of Superlux HD668B with velour pads with my VR headset at the moment and very happy with them. Only a tenner-ish more than these. But extra for the velour pads. Worth it tho. I'd want rid of the fake leather sweaty-ear jobs on these too ...
And I have a couple of sets of ear buds I can live with too. But they are a bit hit and miss with me.

I can understand why you'd feel this way, makes perfect sense, and I felt the same too, UNLESS you find a pair that just sits very lightly on your ears, then it's perfection - I presume you haven't tried the AKG K451? I have a pretty big head, and they are just blissfully comfy!
The advantages are the portability - you can't really take Circumaural cans out and about - and they don't giive you hot ears, which any non-breathable (non-velour padded) cans WILL (especially now in the summer). For that reason, I can also understand why you'd "want rid of the fake leather sweaty-ear jobs" but the flipside of that coin is the velour ones will pick up skin oils (and you still can sweat a little bit even with those) which means they can start to smell less than great after a few months, even with good hygene. Sure, you can wash them easily enough if they're removable, but that degrades/softens the sponge inside somewhat quicker.
