Thanks for coming back. I had read other reviews that said the buttons are a bit 'tenuous' and so long as the sound is good enough for a conversation, I will be happy enough. The plan is to replace my Moto G2 and I am looking forward to having a faster phone with a bit more onboard storage.

Phone is excellent ! massive difference over my old Moto G, nice smooth internet, works as it should !
Couple of bad points, The speaker volume on videos doesn't seem very loud and the feel of the buttons are a bit cheap.

Take a look at Wileyfox Spark+ It only has a 5" screen and doesn't have NFC, but it has a Cyanogen overlay and is not filled with bloatware. The price is £114.99. You can see the a comparison of the three models here

I have had a further email from Honor who now confirm, after investigation, the 5C has NFC. Shame they can't get the information right in the first place.

I must a admit that I am attracted to the 5C primarily on price, but as my current phone is a Moto G2, dual sim is a must, and now that we have Android pay in the UK, so is NFC which I am pleased to see the 5C has (referred to on page 98 of the user manual). I am no 'tech head' and can't get excited over the processor or camera pixels - want a decent picture, use a camera - or all the other stuff that gets 'geeks' into a lather.

As for the Honor interface, I have read elsewhere that this has been stepped back quite a bit, but there will still be bloatware you can't delete. However, you can neuter the overlay with an aftermarket launcher. I am using the excellent Alex and hope to continue doing so when I get the phone.

I note that some people would have liked fingerprint ID, but to my mind this is just window dressing - the manual advises that you should still set an unlock code just in case the sensor fails - so little point in having it in the first place. I also think that not having a dedicated sd card slot is no loss as having had a card that was full of my photos fail (luckily I had backed them up to my computer), won't be using one in future. Gorilla glass is not a must for me, although I think the Moto G2 has it, because I always use a wallet-style case that completely encloses the handset.

On paper, the Honor 5C looks like a cracking little handset and other budget manufacturers should take note. Once all the fuss has died down and 'real world' reviews start coming in, I shall buy or not as the case might be.

Are you sure you're not mixing up your comparison with the P8 Lite?

A quick comparison on GSMArena between this and the P9 Lite would reveal that they have almost identical specs, with the exception that this doesn't have a fingerprint sensor.

Had a couple of huawei/honor phones I rate them higher than the known name brands, just stick nova launcher on it for a better experience (only 50p for full version just now on play store)

​I tend to agree. I had the 5x and the emui interface was fine. It had some nice features not available in stock android and installation of Google now sorted the lack of app drawer. 99% will not care or be able to tell the difference between emui and stock.

​Yes it does have NFC. The Chinese version has a fingerprint scanner but not nfc. The UK version has NFC instead of a fingerprint scanner. I have seen it firsthand, Paulobrien(above) has also had one in his hands. I posted a tweet from the UK Honor team confirming NFC.

​It's NOT easily solved with nova launcher. Nova launcher improves your experience, the only way to solve the horrible Ui is flashing a custom rom. Whenever you want to do anything other than launch an app, you have to contend with that horrible ios wannabe emui.... Seriously hampers what would have been a very good phone. Imho!

​I don't like emotion but easily solved with Google or Nova launcher (50p at the minute). No problem with the Kirin compatibility wise. My Honor 7 is very snappy. Not up there with Qualcomm GPU wise I believe but I don't play any graphically demanding games.

Anyone got anything to say about Kirin chipsets, are they any good? I'm about to buy a Huawei phone with a Kirin 935 and just wanted to know if there are any app incompatibilities, issues, benefits etc?

Had the Honor 6 H60-L04 for nearly couple of years and it's been fine. I'm confused with their numbering system would 5C be an upgrade or downgrade?

Good stuff. That makes it much more competitive. Fast charger and dual sim with micro SD, finger print recognition above the Honor could justify the extra £50. Also 5% off with student Prime.

I thought I had read the G Plus would be £199 when released on Amazon... may be mistaken. Surprised Amazon are not selling it yet though. The G Plus comes with a fast charger which retails at £25 with Motorola

Oh, had a play with one earlier, its definitely slicker than the 5x. Though that could be in part due to it having had onky the stock apps installed.

I have an Honor 7 and this looks to be a 'lite' version. Honor build quality is great, and I expect general performance, battery life and camera will be very good.

Quite a lot of people moan about the Android experience on the Honor phones as the lack of an 'app drawer' means all apps go on the home screen and you need to file them sensibly in folders - much like on an Apple phone. Otherwise it is very simple to install something like Google Now Launcher for a more generic Android experience.

You can get better specifications for less money by buying direct from China, but the Honor 5C will work on all UK networks, be supported better with warranty, and ultimately deliver a peace of mind that makes it a much more sensible choice for most people. I say this as someone who bought a Redmi 3 Pro for my missus.

Honor 7 refresh probably coming in October September that will be a year since the honor 7 will have been out. The 650 is a really good chipset this beats the moto g in my opinion. If this had a fingerprint scanner and nfc it may have been a very good overall handset.

Doesn't look like it. I'm a bit gutted tbh. Thought an honor 7 refresh was incoming. This is very similar to the 5x in price and spec.
